Maui is not obese

Maui is a powerful demigod. Big and strong and… oh, you think he looks fat?

That’s probably because you’ve been conditioned by the media to accept this

as what strong and fit looks like. Amiright?

Sadly… these guys are not all that strong. Yeah, they got muscles… but they aren’t built in a useful way. They are built for looks and that’s about it.

This… 

is a strong guy. Actually a competitor in the Strongman competition. But… his tummy sticks out and he doesn’t look like a Dorito. 

You know who else is strong?

And Maui…

Look at those arms, omg. And that solid, sturdy torso. You can see a shadow where his meat covers his ribs, but he doesn’t look like any slouch to me.

And this guy…

That’s Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather. When the Disney animators showed him their sketches of Maui, he pulled out a picture of his grandfather and showed it to them because he was amazed how similar they looked. This dude was also a pro wrestler.

There’s actually a great infographic about ab muscles and stuff over HERE. but this is the part i want to show you.

Now… look at Maui again.

That thickness don’t move like fat. It doesn’t jiggle and he’s able to flex it. Look at how it sits on his body. It doesn’t sag… he doesn’t have a gut. There’s even a slight V shape to his torso.

It’s just big and not ‘defined’.

And people aren’t used to that.

There are people who think Maui is obese?!

Fuuuuuuck….Just fuck it, y’all. I want to admit the fact I wanted to absolutely hate this movie. The bits and pieces I saw before I didn’t care for but last week I finally just sat the fuck down and gave it a chance. And FUCK…. The animation, songs, and dammit, these two fuckers are too adorable! T_______T My damn kink of loving couples with huge size differences (Johnny x Ash and can’t forget 2014/16 Raphril) was my ultimate downfall. While I will admit I don’t ship them together in the canon movie since she’s only like 16 and their best friend’s dynamic is too cute. But give it about 10 years and I think they have awesome potential.

Moana is bound to retain a crush on him – because damn, those muscles are hard to ignore. ;-p For Maui, he’d be super reluctant because her being mortal is a bummer but I think he’d eventually embrace a life of happiness with her – as fleeting as it is. They’re also both adventurers, fiercely stubborn best friends and would do anything to make the other happy. <3

Besides, just look at them! XD This just explains them perfectly lol

If this isn’t your thing, don’t worry, I won’t submit anymore because seriously, his tattoos made me want to pull my hair out. You can even see the point in which where I stopped giving a shit. XD Nope. Just nope. If you like it, enjoy this first and last piece I submit of these two.

Yes, I KNOW I said I’d never draw these two again, I KNOW that….but fuck it! I can’t help it even if I literally HATE Maui’s tattoos with a passion. *breaks tablet pen* They’re so annoying and time consuming. They legit take half of the time the entire picture does. Seriously. Not even joking and I wish I was. Yet somehow, I needed to draw these two some more so I dealt with his infuriating ink job to bring you these two.

The first is more lighthearted – I didn’t spend much time on it (other than those fucking tattoos…..). Maui is such an egotistical show-off, he’d always be doing stunts like this to get a rise out of Chief Moana – he loves to tease her and drive her crazy and it does – in the best way. ;3

The second is them at their best – wayfinding. Moana is an expert at that point but she wouldn’t mind a brush up here and again from her favorite Demigod.

Let me clarify once again, I don’t ship them in the canon-universe. I can see it happening 5-10 years after their initial adventure; them remaining close – being best friends. Maui taking her away from her Chiefly responsibilities from time to time to take her sailing and just being there for her. Over time, it would happen naturally and since I’m not a big fan of Moana becoming a demigodess but I do like the idea of Maui giving up his mortality to be with her. <3

Oh, and I know Moana will keep using the same oar with Maui’s signature forever. Fight me.

NOW I promise I won’t upload anymore of them…probably. Maybe. I dunno. We’ll see.
