~~~Halloween Headcanons~~~
Resa loves halloween and making her own costumes. The Folchart’s have always given out the best candy and have the most decorated house in their neighbourhood. Resa makes hot coco for everyone when they sit around the fire to tell stories. Mo reluctantly dresses up but usually it’s just a pair of ears or a hat. Meggie and Farid tried to put a costume on Gwin once, but quickly learned their lesson.
Dustfinger likes to put on fire shows, he can make all sorts of monsters and figures out of fire to entertain his audience. I like to think there is some similar holiday in the inkworld when the motley folk will put on cool masks and celebrate. He makes Basta’s life a living hell because he tells them there is a witch in the forest who come into the village every halloween to pick a victim.
Farid dresses up as Dustfinger every year and takes trick or treating very seriously. He loves doing pranks and scaring everyone, but when Dustfinger tells ghost stories he has to sleep inside with the lights on afterwards.
Elinor hates halloween. She turns off all the lights and hopes no children come knocking at her door. She does enjoy buying candy for herself and staying up reading classic horror novels though.
Fenoglio always goes out with his grandchildren to get candy. His ghost stories are obviously the best, but the parents complain they are too scary for the kids.
Halloween is a bad time for Basta. He will carve hundreds of jack o’ lanterns to ward off evil spirits. They’re actually pretty good but a huge fire hazard. He also refuses to go out at night lest the witch gets him.
Capricorn puts on a huge party with a bonfire and lots of food. The black jackets will wear horrifying masks and terrorize the locals villages. It’s best not to refuse them what they want when come knocking at your door. They also enjoy smashing and stealing Basta’s pumpkins. At least one of them has gotten a jack o’ lantern stuck on his head. It was probably Flatnose.
it’s supposed to say unauthorized but I also can’t read
Your favourite inkheart character?:)
Oh, definitely the Black Prince!!! ♥ He’s wonderful! To quote Elinor:
I do like a good written villain but most of the time my heart belongs to the good guys and he’s definitely one of the good guys. He has a heart of gold, he’s amazingly positive (even in darker times he seems to be able to hope for better), he is loyal af, he sometimes trust too easily but that means that he can see good in most people (even if some of them don’t deserve it!!!). Every scene with him and his loyal bear (and Baptista^^) makes me smile - except when he’s sad or hurt, then my heart aches for him. Like Fenoglio, I don’t want anything bad happen to him and I 100% agree, he doesn’t deserve all the bad and cruel things that happen/happened to him!!! He cares for every lost or hurt creature that passes his way and protects them and he’s so very brave!!!
So...yeah, the Black Prince is my favorite character out of the Inkworld series (and I’m so happy that Cornelia Funke said that he’ll be part of the 4th book♥♥ - tho I don’t like the rumors that she wants him and Violante to come together - I mean, they never spoke to each other, the reason (so far) is that Violante loved the role that the Bluejay played more than the Bluejay himself and since the Black Prince has a similar role she might fall for him...... idk... but if it’s good written - we’ll see🙃🤷♂️
Thanks for your ask 😊
Meggie, Mo, and the Bluejay for the Inkheart Asks pls?
Thank you for the asks 😊
Meggie: Who are your top 3 favorite characters?
The Black Prince, Baptista and either Meggie or Elinor🤔🤔
Mo: What is your favorite part in the books?
Beware, SPOILERS!!
My favorite part is in Inkdeath the when they have to flee the Milksop and go to the Tree with the Human Nests ♥♥
Especially when the Giant comes to their rescue…. So beautiful!!! (Even with all the dangerous stuff happening)
The Bluejay: What is your favorite quote?
As said in my answer to softabomination, I can’t decide on one quote so I will answer this time with another quote than the one I gave previously 😇
Here it is, Baptista introducing us (the reader) to the Bluejay in the Secret Camp (chapter 14 of Inkspell - again):
And another quote that I love very much (that I have to add because I really can’t decide - sorry not sorry🙃). It’s from a later point in Inkdeath - so I should probably warn you that this could include some kind of SPOILERS:
Thank you again for the asks^^
Elinor & The Bluejay, asking as someone completely alien to the fandom
Thank you for the ask 😊
Elinor: What made you pick up Inkheart?
Uff, difficult. That’s like 5000 years ago 😉
I got the first book as a gift and it looked beautiful and interesting. I mean, just look at this beautiful cover:
😍😍😍
And the first few pages are captivating (just as the rest ofc) so when I started reading, I was lost 😊
If you like books that have both elements of the real world and a fantasy world, good child-parent relationships, villians that are interesting, darker themes w/o becoming an overall sad story, emotional parts that make you laugh, cry and cry w laughter, lots and lots of wonderful ♥ characters that you’re going to learn about through the 3-book series (and there’s said to be another book soon - so more to look forward to) then the Inkworld series might be something for you (the books are called “Inkheart” (Tintenherz), “Inkspell” (for some ineffable reasons they changed Tintenblut - Inkblood to Inkspell) and “Inkdeath” (Tintentod)) 💕💕
The Bluejay: What is your favorite quote?
Um...my favorite quote...hmm.. I’d say every quote with the Black Prince and his bear♥ (well except some in Inkdeath...with some red berries...SPOILER) 😉 but which of them do I like the most?????🤔
Hmmm...(btw, thanks to your ask I found a continuity mistake in my current Inkworld-WIP🙃, so thank you^^). Okay, after rereading bits of the books I’d say my favorite quote is the indroduction of the Black Prince (chapter 14 of Inkspell):
(okay, tbh I still can’t decide which of the quotes I found (including the one above) is my favorite but someone else asked me the same question so I can therefore decide on another quote for their answer 😬😇)
And Mo would take Elenor’s side, while Meggie would playfully take Dustfinger’s. And Farid just pulls out a bigger knife, because “Hey, she only said no pocket knives.”
Helen Mirren as Elinor Loredan and John Thomson as Darius in Inkheart
Waiiit…
Darius is reading The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux here, a play about an eccentric old lady who punishes a bunch of evil capitalists (with death), together with a ragtag crew of equally weird friends. She also convinces a young man, who was working for the bad guys, but who got second thoughts and wanted to commit suicide, to continue living and find joy in the world. It’s all about protecting beauty and freedom and humanity.
Fitting, hhm? I love how Darius looks at Elinor, looks at the book and back at Elinor^^
ok so like idk if this is just me. But I never pictured elinor as a tiny, frail looking old lady. I always pictured her as older (but not close to elderly) with short hair that definitely went white prematurely and a more imposing stature (more heavy set, taller than Fenoglio who is short and elderly or close enough to it).
