Rules: we’re snooping on your playlist. put your entire music library on shuffle and list the first 10 songs, then choose 10 victims!
- Black Magic - The Amazons ... guitar solo + the “haaaaaaaa”s happening during it (TS: 3:25 -mainly 3:35-until 4:15) make me feel so empowered, and if it were in a film, i picture it being during some climactic moment (the solo) where people are in a car finally getting away from something, or someone was running away and ended up jumping off a cliff they didn’t know was there..
- Phantoms & Friends - Old Man Canyon ... epitome of a windy summer night drive song; builds up; perfect movie “turning-point” or end credit song for something gone wrong; bittersweet folk optimistic is the best way to describe it.
- Talia - King Princess ... makes me bawl because i heard it after a breakup with the first person who got me; it’s about a lesbian female who’s girlfriend passed away
- American Hero - Rainbow Kitten Surprise ... comforted me when i moved from my childhood home & felt like nobody understood me except my new boyfriend; chill, light foot-stomping, solemnly paying attention to lyrics staring out the car window, unconsciously bopping head vibes
- Champagne - Shag Rock ... just listen, especially if you’re in the car or with headphones... you’ll get it
- Talk On The Street - Greta Van Fleet ... kinda bittersweet for me because the person who made me fall in love with it isn’t close to me anymore. that guitar solo is killer.
- Dust In The Wind - Kansas ... windy summer night drive typa song; my dad would play & sing this to me as a lullaby growing up; favourite moments are during the lyrics “now, don’t hang on nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky // it slips away, and all your money won’t another minute buy...” (2:20-2:31)
- “Don’t Tickle Me” - Dane Cook (Harmful If Swallowed) ... favourite stand-up comedian besides Chris D’Elia... highly recommend listening to Danes work (available on spotify!)
- Walk Across The Water - The Black Keys ... can picture it being in a film (associational montage vibes); god i love this band; feel-good chill song:)
- Harry & Hermione - Nicholas Hooper ... from The Half-Blood Prince (6); dramatic bittersweet instrumental music
