The hours of the night crept by slowly. They felt neverending and dull, making you twist and turn in your bed for what felt like forever. The fight with Tom had set your nerves on fire, it was impossible to relax and get your mind off things. With every minute passing, you wanted to get back up, run downstairs into the living room and give him a few more of your thoughts about his behaviour, maybe with a metaphorical slap in the face for good measure. He’d definitely deserve it, but it also would make you look like the crazy one. No, you wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

Part 1 - Nightmares and Future Dreams

The house was quiet, the living room neatly kept, as always, when you walked through the halls. You didn’t quite know why you did so, but something dragged you there like a magnet. Soft music played distantly from the record player, mirroring your carefree mind. 

The sun shone in from outside, a warm breeze blew gently through the white curtains that prevented you from seeing what was behind the open terrace door. You slid them aside and stepped out into the garden. There they were. Two kids, a boy and a girl, sitting in the grass and facing each other. They both wore the bright white outfits you had prepared in the morning and giggled at each other’s jokes, eyes squeezed shut from laughter and the summer sun that shone onto their heads. They might need some hats. White ones, of course, to match their outfits.

Rest easy legend <3

My new, totally uneducated guess for why humans tell stories is to keep them from getting bored and cranky while following a gazelle for four hours. No deeper mystery or meaning. Some folk needed a distraction while they tried to catch dinner so they just made some shit up. The end.

The equivalent of listening and singing to songs on your way home so you don't fall asleep at the wheel.

For millennia upon millenia, humans have had to yell creatively to keep on task 

theres a theory that the reason there are so many characters in folk tales who weave/spin is because weavers/spinners were bored while they were doing the repetitve work that doesnt require much brian power for experienced workers. e.g. the greek fates, rumpelstiltskin, sleeping beauty pricking her finger on a spindle.

so the weavers/spinners were telling stories to pass the time and then they were like 'yo but what if WE were in it.'

also interesting that making up a story as you tell it is called 'spinning a tale'

my first “word vomit” draft for a potential sequel is 1k words long already, so i guess i’m pretty inspired ??? 👀

Small update: I have loosely drafted the first 8 chapters and have an overall idea about the entire plot now 🤠 I’d like to make the sequel similar in length to Promised, about 15-20 chapters. Let’s see how that goes lmao. I’d like to actually write the first few chapters before I post the first one, so I’ll be a bit ahead and don’t have to worry about my posting schedule. Idk if I’ll be able to pull that off though, because I only perform well under pressure and I actually love posting everything as soon as i finished writing it. Oh well, idk, I’ll decide spontaneously lol.

A psa to my youngest followers:

- An older adult solely hanging with younger teens (I’m talking 25yo & 15yo) and who doesn’t seem to have any other adult friend is a red flag.

- An older adult talking to a younger teen and saying stuff like “you’re the only one who understands me” “I’d hurt myself if you weren’t there” “You’re my only friend” is a red flag.

- Someone (regardless of age) who constantly ends up in discourse & drama is a red flag.

- If you’re afraid to talk to your friend(s), if you feel like you’ve got to tiptoe as to not set them off and get yelled at/ostracized/worse, that’s a red flag.
