And seriously. How amazing was “Let Me Hold Your Hand” in Across the Universe? They managed to make it even more powerful. And the way she went from quiet, reserved and melancholy to singing loud and proud and really owning the song. She started out so unsure of herself and her feelings, but ended it walking towards her future, confident in who she is.
I almost watched Across the Universe earlier, but didn’t feel like getting up and grabbing the disc (it’s been a long fucking month lol). Later, as I was scrolling through Amazon Prime, looking for something to watch, I found that they had Across the Universe available. So now I’m watching it. lol
holy fuck. I found a mash-up of “Clint Eastwood” and “No Church in the Wild.” It’s really damn good. It’s up there with the mash-up of “Closer” and “come Together.”
The “Let It Be” sequence from Across the Universe gets me choked up every time I watch it. The saddest part is watching it become more and more relevant to our modern world every year.
I really hate when people say "music today is crap!" No, it isn't. You're just lazy and/or uninspired and probably listening to Top 40 bullshit. Newsflash: what is most popular has almost always been shit with a few standouts throughout the years like the Beatles and Michael Jackson.
Do you know how many #1 singles Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Queen had between them? 3. Another Brick in the Wall (Part II), Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and Another One Bites the Dust. These are 4 of the most influential rock bands of all time and 2 of them never even had #1 singles. They shaped music as we know it and they barely have enough #1 singles to make a 7-inch.
If you want to find good music, you have to spend a little time looking for it. Like a song on the radio? Find out the name of the band and then what genre they are and listen to some other bands in that genre.
Tonight's movie is Across the Universe. It's one of the few musicals I enjoy, but who could say no to the Beatles and a war-torn, psychedelic love story?
Also, Prudence is such an awesome character.

Have you ever stopped to think "Where would music be today if the Beatles hadn't had acid?"
My sister got out of prison on Wednesday, and she is currently playing music for her son and I want to cry.
She has horrible taste in music and she’s undoing what I have done for the past 3 years. She’s going to make him forget the Ramones, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Becoming the Architect, Primus, and so much more. It’s bad enough that he likes Beiber, but her slow jams are going to give him the wrong idea about what makes music good.
I really need to work on this playlist. I used to have a spectacular cover collection on a computer that died. Ranging from the most insanely perfect covers (Mike Patton doing “War Pigs”) and the unexpected but brilliant (Spineshank’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”), to the absurd (MSI’s “Tom Sawyer”), the weirdly awesome (Children of Bodom’s “Oops I did it Again”) and the downright horrible (Avril Lavigne’s drunken karaoke rendition of “Chop Suey”). I had it all. And it was incredible.
