This is what the test panel the other day was for. I'm taking the custom diecast game to the next level. The next step for this is a full mask up for a silver leaf line around the space block.
Been quite a few years since I painted space. This was the third attempt on this canvas and it turned out fantastic. Just took a bit to get my bearings back.
Wait a second. Do we know where the center of the known universe is and are we actually anywhere near the center? Or are we the center of the known universe by default because thus far, all points we’ve seen have been from the general vicinity of the same floating rock? I... I have some research to do.
Honestly, why would any highly evolved intelligent life in the universe want to reveal themselves to us or allow us to find them when all we do is destroy the planet and each other. They're out there and they want nothing to with us.
You’re right. We’re a destructive species and I doubt any advanced species that has moved beyond the pettiness we exhibit here on earth would want to engage with us as equals. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t those that would come here. I can think of a few reasons why they would, such as domination, resources, research, crash landing, getting lost, or just plain boredom.
Look at humans. We explore for no other reason than to know what’s there. We’ve gone in and destroyed civilizations and ecosystems simply because we could. That could easily happen to us with a species that is more advanced than ours. We could be nothing more than ants to them, ready to be squashed, researched, or ignored. But we definitely need to get our shit together if we ever want to explore the universe and make contact with other lifeforms. Extended space travel takes global resources, not just those of a single country.
Open question to everyone: What’s your favorite thing about space?
There is a MASSIVE halo around the moon tonight. It's a good 6-8 inches outside of it and it is stunning. I just wish I had a camera that could capture it.
I don't think tumblr is ever going to accept that Pluto wasn't reclassified last year. It's still not a planet. Tumblr's collective inability to fact check is annoying.
Samples taken from illuminators and the surface of the International Space Station were found to have traces of sea plankton, or what a whale eats.
This is simply astounding. The fact that plankton can survive in space is amazing and it shows just how resilient life can be.
It's pretty funny that they changed how Uranus is pronounced, all because they were tired of it being the butt of all space jokes.
Have you ever stopped to think that - barring some sort of global crisis or catastrophe - the first person to walk on Mars has almost certainly been born already? And that they may, in fact, be training for the mission right now?

Orbiter is a graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Colleen Doran, published in 2003 by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint.
It is a hard science fiction story set in the early 21st Century about a team of specialists employed to understand the mysterious reappearance of the space shuttle Venture. Ellis and Doran are both space flight enthusiasts and dedicated Orbiter to the “lives, memories and legacies” of the astronauts who died in the 2003 Columbia disaster. Warren Ellis received an Eisner Award nomination as Best Writer for his 2004 works including Orbiter
