screaming into the void

The fucking score during the telepathic battle between Kylo and Rey is fucking phenomenal. It somehow manages to evoke the exact right feeling with low, sweeping sounds that occasionally reverse as control moves between the two. And then it crashes when Rey breaks into Kylo’s mind. It’s so brilliantly done.

I wouldn’t be surprised if, in Episode VIII, we got some backstory from Finn that has a family member of his grabbing his hand and trying to lead him to safety from the First Order troops that are searching their city. 

Why? Because so far, there’s no explanation or logical reason given why Finn would take Rey’s hand whenever they were in danger. First Order soldiers are taught to be hard, disciplined, solitary, and self sufficient. They’re taught to be tools for the First Order to use in battle, and taking someone’s hand when danger strikes is not something he would’ve learned from the First Order or their training. But it is something he’d learn from a parent, older sibling, or guardian. It’s an emotional and caring gesture of someone trying to protect another (even if Rey clearly doesn’t need/want it lol). Given Star Wars’ penchant for making backstories as heart-wrenching as possible, seeing it during his capture by the First Order would be brutal.

You know what my favorite small detail in TFA is? The fact that they put Rey in a vest when she took over as pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Just like Han Solo. It could be a coincidence, but so much attention was paid to detail in this film that it doesn’t feel like a coincidence.
