This is one of the best covers of all time and, unfortunately, it's not available on Spotify. If it was it'd be on half my playlists.
Unpopular opinion: The Weezer cover of Africa is SHIT and I will fight you about it.
Surf Rock cover group name:
Flock of Sea Turtles
This is, hands down, the weirdest cover I have ever heard in my entire life. Disco was basically the polar opposite of psychedelic rock, but the Scissor Sisters have somehow managed to combine the two into an odd, but strangely convincing cover. I don't understand how it works, but it does.
This is easily my favorite song on this soundtrack. The rendition is amazing. The differences are subtle and serve to make it a familiar, but slightly off tune.
One of my all-time favorite covers. I can't really put into words why, but it is. I never tire of it.
Also, you have to love a death metal band with a sense of humor. This is one of my all time favorite covers.
This is, by far, my favorite song in the Social Network. I’m a big fan of covers and remixes, but I have a special place for classical songs covered in extremely modern ways. I would love an entire album of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross reimagining pieces from the classical masters.
This is one of my favorite covers. It combines my love of off-beat metal, new wave, and covers in an amazing way.
This is probably my favorite cover, ever. Which is saying a lot, because I love covers. I think I actually like this version than the original, as well. There’s just something amazing about it.
"Practially every one of the top 40 records being played on every radio station in the United States is a communication to the children to take a trip, to cop out, to groove. The psychedelic jackets on the record albums have their own hidden symbols and messages as well as the lyrics to all the top rock songs and they all sing the same refrain: it’s fun to take a trip; put acid in your veins."
This is probably the most obscure cover I have ever heard. How often do you hear a hidden track covered? I’ve heard covers as a hidden track, but never the other way ‘round. However, this particular hidden track is by Probot (the epic 80’s revival metal side project of Dave Grohl) and featured Jack Black on vocals, making it an awesome candidate for covering. And it was covered well.
I really need to work on this playlist. I used to have a spectacular cover collection on a computer that died. Ranging from the most insanely perfect covers (Mike Patton doing “War Pigs”) and the unexpected but brilliant (Spineshank’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”), to the absurd (MSI’s “Tom Sawyer”), the weirdly awesome (Children of Bodom’s “Oops I did it Again”) and the downright horrible (Avril Lavigne’s drunken karaoke rendition of “Chop Suey”). I had it all. And it was incredible.
