In the 100+ times I’ve watched the Avengers, I never once thought “You know what this movie needs? Romance.”
JOSS WHEDON'S MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING IS ON NETFLIX!! YEEEES!!
I'd like to see Andrew Garfield as an extra in the background of a scene in Avengers 2. No talking. No focus on him. Just him in the background taking pictures.
The Friday Poll - What is the best game-changing Whedonverse episode?
Passion. It was the first time that Joss did that to us. While he did it better later, this was the archetype.
writing tip #700:
your characters are like geodes
if you want to see what they’re really made of
you must break them
this is so good i dont even know how to describe it just GUYS
I think Joss Whedon must treat his fans like geodes.
"They’re not coming."
Firefly, 101
This is why I love Joss Whedon. He takes tropes and turns them on their head. The Browncoats were the rebellion. They were fighting tyranny. They have to win, right? Nope. Not even a little bit. And then they spend the rest of their lives on the outside of society trying to make a life as best as they can knowing that they lost the good fight.
I still get really excited when Simon says he wants to be with Kaylee... as in sex. Joss knew everyone shipped it and he made it canon at the last second just for us.
Honestly, I'm annoyed that they're bringing Moriarty back. Moffat needs to learn how to let characters stay dead. Go watch something by Joss Whedon and learn how to make us feel. Not everything has to be a tease.
Only 10 minutes into the commentary for the Avengers and it's already impressive. Joss Whedon is talking about how he went about shooting 3D and he talks about how he didn't want to shove stuff in peoples' face, but rather that he wanted to use it to give a scope of the space and size of everything. It's an interesting and brilliant take on it. If more people had that take on 3D, I think I may like it better.
Using 3D to shoot bullets at the audience is gimmick. Using it to give us a sense of depth and size adds something that has always been lost in film.
I bet Joss Whedon has a clause in his contracts that says he gets to kill at least 2 main characters; 1 to stay dead and hurt us all and 1 to bring back to life just to fuck with us.

This, always.

I grew up with this. I've got a couple uncles with no blood relation that have been part of my family longer than I have. I never would have thought to consider them anything but family, ever.
Joss Whedon just loves to insert 100% random storylines into a show that makes us wonder how many episodes we missed.Case in point: Season 3x17: Superstar. WTF is Jonathon doing?
Firefly aired 11 years ago today
And I watched it, at 16 years old.
I just noticed that Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow is not on the cover of the Avenger's blu ray. What the fuck, man? She was an integral part of the movie! Just because she's a woman she can't be included? And worse, it happens on a movie directed and written by a man known for creating strong female leads, which Natasha certainly was.
