screaming into the void

Today has been a pretty amazing day. I got to have great food with family. I stood in line for 2 hours to buy vinyl and a cassette (what?!). I finally own Korn's debut album on vinyl - the first ever release in the US. I also got the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack on tape, which is essentially a movie prop. I got the only Christmas song I can stomach, "Christmas in Hollis" (which happens to be from my favorite Christmas movie, Die Hard). Oh, and I got home and found out that the trailer for Star Wars Episode VII is up online and IT'S AMAZING! 

So, yeah. Fucking great day.

It's actually pretty awesome sitting out here in front of this store. I'm with my people. The audiophiles and music lovers. We don't gather often, as we tend to be quieter, more solitary people, but it's nice to be among fellow collectors.

I’m currently out sitting in front of CD World, waiting in line for them to open. It’s cold and rainy and I’m wearing shorts, but I’m also near the front of the line so I think it’s worth the cold.

I'm going to be going out to stand in line for Black Friday for the first time ever. I usually don't because 1) I'm poor and 2) I don't agree with the principle of the day. However, my local record store is participating in Record Store Day's Black Friday event and there's a couple things I need want. Plus, it's a local business so I'm more than happy to support them, even on the worst shopping day in the world.

Dude. DUUUDE! My local record shopis participating in the RSD Black Friday event and they'll have the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 cassette! I'm going to stand in line at 5:30 am the day after Thanksgiving to get a movie soundtrack... on cassette... Worth it.

It's Black Friday. The proles are out fighting for the treats from the Bourgeoisie. They still have to pay, they just get to pay less.
