I havent seen anyone talk about this yet so im making a post.

So lets say you’re researching something for a paper (or just for fun) and the research paper you want to read is behind a paywall, or the site makes you create an account first, or makes you pay to download, or limits you to only 5 free articles, or otherwise makes it difficult for you to read what you want.

do not fear! copy the link to the article

go to sci-hub.se         (the url is always changing so its best to check out whereisscihub.now.sh to find what the current url is)

slap the article link in there

bam! free access!

Writing Pregnancy

Anonymous asked: Do you maybe have any tips/resources/etc on how to write out a pregnancy? I can’t seem to find anything other than teen pregnancy tips, and the character is at least 15 years removed from her teen years.

Here, check out what I (very quickly) Googled for you!

On writing a pregnant character:

On pregnancy:

As far as tips go:

  • Please, please, talk to someone who has been pregnant before. That’s it. Talk to a person who has been pregnant. (Your mother, for example.)
  • Apply this event to your characters. A pregnant character doesn’t immediately become the perfect model of pregnancy preparedness and bliss. Unhealthy habits like smoking or drinking will die hard. The character’s prenatal care may not ideal. The pregnancy may come as a shock. People around the pregnant character may or may not approve. Make sure that your characters react to the pregnancy believably—as themselves.
  • This pregnancy isn’t your plot. Work on seamlessly integrating the pregnancy into your plot instead of making your whole story The Pregnancy. What I mean here is that a pregnancy does not a plot make. Unless there is a miscarriage or abortion, pregnancy is a several-months long event in your story. It can be a climactic event or a bump (pun intended) along the way, but it is just and only one event. By itself, a pregnancy is not character development. It is not a theme. A pregnancy is a pregnancy. Don’t let it eat your story.

I hope those resources and tips help!
