If you were in Belle’s situation, would you give Rumple as many chances as she did?

The best thing about this response is the “and no one should either”. Emilie is standing up for young women in Belle’s position or could potentially be in Belle’s position (and I imagine that she has quite a few young female fans-my 12 year old sister adores her). She is using her platform to do good and help protect potential victims (even though she may have been risking her relationship with her employers and potentially getting some hateful comments). Emilie de Ravin: the hero we don’t deserve.

@elementarydata you live in an awesome town.

I can’t disagree with that. But I’d also like to give a shout out to the folks of Glasgow who had some choice words for that f***er on Twitter. One of the things I really liked about Epic was that I went into the film expecting the “twist” to be that MK becomes the new queen. And what happens? Nope, MK is just an ordinary girl, brave and resourceful, helps save the day so that another can become queen, and then she goes back to her own world, having learned to be just a bit more open-minded to the wonders around her.

Oh, and by the end I also expected MK to give up the human world to stay with Nod, but nope again. They have some fun, some adventures, one passionate kiss, but she never even considers giving up her own world for a boy she just met. I mean, I liked MK/Nod, but that was such a refreshing ending. And they stayed in touch, right? So maybe one day…

You know, Peeta’s unconventional masculinity is as relevant for traditional gender subversion in The Hunger Games as Katniss’s unconventional femininity.

It’s a bit annoying to see everyone and their mother praising Katniss for being such a unique action female hero, and then hearing those same people making fun of Peeta for being a weakling and a ‘sissy’.

Yes, Peeta paints sunsets and bakes cookies and frosts cakes. He is sometimes/usually unarmed and needs Katniss’s protection. He needs saving at several points across the story, and eventually he is captured and needs rescuing.

So what? Just as Katniss can be dextrous at archery, an assassin and a leader in combat, while retaining her kindness, humanity and selflessness, Peeta can paint, bake, and not be a traditional male action hero and still be the male lead and romantic hero of the story. He can still be sexually alluring for Katniss and capable of extremely heroic actions, while needing rescue and baking cakes.

And if you can’t see how relevant it is for this story and for a younger generation to understand that traditional and media-approved masculinity is also a social construct/imposition, as restrictive and reactionary as enforced traditional femininity can be, then the joke’s on you.

When we ask directly if Loki and Thor are really once again allies, [Tom Hiddleston] gives a rare one-word answer: “Potentially.” Then he takes a different tack, and elaborates: “The interesting thing for me, coming into this a third time around, was to really excavate Loki’s essential nature as a trickster. In the glorious poker game of Asgard, he has the most impenetrable, unreadable face. He’s like all great, captivatingly dangerous psychopaths; he enjoys the game as much as the end of the game and it’s the gamble, the risk that he gets off on. That’s his nature. That’s his purpose. And especially now that Avengers has happened and he’s public enemy number one, he’s got nothing to lose. Whereas in Thor he had everything to lose.
