How about some art school AU to prove I'm not dead/haven't forgotten about these two? The return of the Norwegian Elkhound that I like to think Jack and Rowan would get in this reality. I have finally thought of a name for her (that feels obvious in hindsight): Nana.

They thought they would do a cheesy little Christmas card with everyone in matching sweaters. Puppies, of course, are not eager to stay still for very long. This probably ends up being the card photo anyway.

Jack + MiM (cool motive but you still didn’t speak to the kid for 300+ years)

Woooo, I colored it in. Jack seemed to cooperate with me a lot more than Rowan did.

I did the original drawing, based on one of the Twilight film posters, to poke fun at myself because I absolutely hated Twilight and then incorporated a good amount of the same tropes in Something Quite Peculiar.

Jack is not this much taller than Rowan, he's definitely hovering or something to re-create this pose. I was never really happy with how he came out in the first one, I think he feels a lot more "Jack" this time. I didn't go as hard with the dark shadows this time but I think it still gets the point across.

Sometimes I consider fact that ROTG is probably the only kids film with a whole scene partially dedicated to some human corpse floating around in the water. You know just. Being dead. 

Apparently Peter Ramsey and Guillermo Del Toro giggled to each other during screenings because they couldn’t believe they got away with opening their kids movie with what is basically Jack’s corpse rising from the lake, which is the greatest story from movie production I’ve heard.

I like to think that in Art School AU, Rowan and Jack get a dog. A Norwegian Elkhound seems like a good choice for them, especially since I decided that Rowan's family loves hounds in particular. They're smart, love the snow, sailed with vikings back in the day, and their method of hunting largely involves annoying the elk they're pursuing.

I wanted to draw a puppy for "cheer myself up" reasons. I think they were frequently talking about getting a dog and one day Rowan got a video call like "listen, I was walking by this adoption event and she singled me out, I was minding my business!"

I have not settled on a name for this dog yet.

Here he is! He was a ton of fun, it really indulged the part of me that's still like "but what if dark hair and heavy eye makeup?" every time I design a character.

I had to redraw some of the mouth because I wanted him to have some little fangs. I also put his eyebrows in a slightly more evil position, very important.

And of course, the hoodie. I was still very proud of the ribcage frost design I gave him on my old drawing, so I had to bring it back for this one. At some point I will have to do a proper full-body drawing of Dark Jack.

Anyway, Dark Jack, AKA: -Jack after hearing a single G note played on a piano. -Jack after being corrupted by the Venom symbiote. -"A lot of preps stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them." -When you go into his setting and select "Dark Mode." -"It's not a phase, Manny!"

Jack, Jack, and of course, Jack.

... so, my hand slipped.

I couldn't help myself, I had to make a third version of my Jack Frost portrait.  This is, of course, how he appears in the opening scene in the film.  It's been a fun process coming up with a strategy for how I add the frost to his clothes.

Here we go, a Jack Overland version! I considered putting a sun in the background to differentiate him more from the Jack Frost portrait, but I really wasn't liking the way that background was turning out.

I'm not sure how obvious it is in the finished piece with the shadow and everything, but I did try to add more warmth to his skin tone for the Jack Overland version.

I've had that specific kind of artist block where I start a bunch of sketches and don't actually bother finishing any of them.

Here is an Art School AU Jack, I've made a few attempts to draw a full-body version of him that I haven't been happy with, but right now I'm okay with this one.
