When we ask directly if Loki and Thor are really once again allies, [Tom Hiddleston] gives a rare one-word answer: “Potentially.” Then he takes a different tack, and elaborates: “The interesting thing for me, coming into this a third time around, was to really excavate Loki’s essential nature as a trickster. In the glorious poker game of Asgard, he has the most impenetrable, unreadable face. He’s like all great, captivatingly dangerous psychopaths; he enjoys the game as much as the end of the game and it’s the gamble, the risk that he gets off on. That’s his nature. That’s his purpose. And especially now that Avengers has happened and he’s public enemy number one, he’s got nothing to lose. Whereas in Thor he had everything to lose.
