Fangirling and Writer-Nerd Chaos

@folatefangirl / folatefangirl.tumblr.com

I'm Cinnia, late 20s, she/her, a fan of the health sciences and many other things, and a former quiet kid who was abducted by the theater people. This blog is a semi-queued experiment to vent my endless energy for fandoms, LGBT+ content, writing, languages, religion analysis and ExMormon content, dancing, mental health, etc. I also run the Grate Scoff food blog as well as the Incorrect Rings of Power and Incorrect Thornfruit Quotes blogs.

I want to talk about Elrond’s cloak for a minute. We know the elves are very classy and elegant and put together(or at the very least like to put on that facade as we’re very much seeing their flaws but I digress). But from pretty much the moment we see Elrond he has that tattered teal cloak that is a staple of his wardrobe.

You can see more than a few holes, places where it’s threadbare, and the bottom hem near his dagger is starting to come undone. And at first I figured I was overthinking it but then I thought, this show had a massive budget. The costumers deliberately chose to have his cloak look like that so what was the reasoning? Is it the last reminder of a loved one he refuses to let go? Is it meant to be a visual reminder of his youth compared to the other elves? Am I just overthinking it because he’s my favorite character? I truly don’t know and it’s such minor detail but I really like the potential characterization it adds.

As @fuzzyfacedeopierider said in the comments:

I think someone figured that the cirth on it says "Eärendilion" so "son of Eärendil" and has the star on it too. It's clearly something that was gifted to him and he's proudly bearing his father's name.

@lotr20 | Day 6 Healing: Aragorn in the Houses of Healing

Aragorn went first to Faramir, and then to the Lady Éowyn, and last to Merry. When he had looked on the faces of the sick and seen their hurts he sighed. 'Here I must put forth all such power and skill as is given to me,' he said. 'Would that Elrond were here, for he is the eldest of all our race, and has the greater power.'

you all get it

Nolofinwë Week Day Seven: Elrond Sailing to Valinor

Hey, I have feelings.

I have this head cannon that as Círdan's ship carried Elrond to Valinor on the sea Vingilot sailed above in the sky. I think Eärendil guided his son home, I think he heralded his arrival to the Undying Lands. I think when Elwing saw her husband's star so low, and close, and bright she knew that finally after over 6,000 years she was going to see one of her sons again, I think Celebrian knew she was going to see her husband again.

I think Elrond and Elros and their legacies were the happy ending to The Silmarillion with all its grief.

Okay I'm done. Back to being completely normal.

(Also, I absolutely borrowed from @thelien-art's very good Elrond design)

Durin at some point in the twenty year gap probably for drunk off his ass and ended up crying in Disa’s lap about Elrond and how “he walks in starlight far from my reach” and how he misses his stupid wry smiles and dumb dark hair and even his stupid elfy ears and ridiculous height and the starry twinkle in his eyes. Disa thinks it’s the funniest thing ever even as she starts coming up with ways to kidnap an elf
