Hiiii I'm looking at ur art again and ugh ur shapes??? Like. There's this beautiful flow to everything in your work like all this connection and sudden contrast that makes for this movement?? And ur colors match so you have amazing blending with this sudden change creating like a glowing effect especially in skin guhhhhhh and especially ur lips!!! Like. It's. A lined shape but they always look plush?? And HAIR i swear that's like ur trademark i always see the hair and im like!!!! I know them!! Its flows in these sweeping curves and I LOVE the way you use light brown to outline the darker browns and blacks to get this amazing effect ughhh sorry I'm just obsessed

My drawings seem a little stiff to me lately because I'm not drawing much this year, but reading all these compliments helps a lot!

I appreciate when people take their time to notice the little details, thank you 🩵

It isn't specified he wears anything on the forehead, but when they mentioned ancient gods and Buddhas in the novel I imagined him with the bhindi, and since I like it I keep it in his design.

I draw Mu Qing with one too since they're from the same sect.

You don't really notice how bad it is because basically everyone in the fandom makes them look unrealistic, but it does make a difference to see them depicted your way. Your Xie Lian reminds me very strongly of my classmate who I spend a lot of time with, and he shares so many of the "imperfect" facial features with her, that seeing him invokes a sense of trust and familiarity that I never had with any other art. It just hits in a different way when you look at a fictional character and you can basically invision a real person in their place, it feels so jarring but in a good way. The more I read TGCF the clearer facial features of the characters are for me; at the beginning I had only a vague image of Xie Lian's face (mostly inspired from the donghua) but with time I got a clearer image of him probably mixing in faces of people I know as well♡

They're not very historically accurate but I'm happy you appreciate them ´꒳`

Mu Qing was already on the list, I planned to finish him right after Feng Xin, but then Mermay started, then Pride month, so I went with the rainbow palette (still have to finish it)

But I'll finish the seasons ones after that, they're all already sketched ~♥︎

This is a very hard question.

There are a lot of scenes I love in this story, it's hard to pick my favorite one above all... but right now, I'd say the lantern festival scene in book 3.

There are a lot of sweet moments between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, as well, but that one has the vengeance factor that really gets me. The fact that Hua Cheng manages to humiliate all the other gods and make Xie Lian shine, all in a game that is so important to the gods specifically is... Something.

Very satisfying.

Today I’m not having a great day, I got kicked out of animation school, and don’t know what else to do since my only talent is drawing and sometimes I even feel mediocre at it

So I was wondering, did you go to art or animation school? It’s mostly because I admire your art so much I would like to draw like that one day, and I’m worried that instead I will be forever be stuck in mediocrity if I don’t go to college or art school

You're not inconveniencing me, don't worry.

Yes, I went to an art high school and comics school. The second one gave me a ton of professional notions, and for me it was fundamental. But this is a very subjective thing. You'd have to find the right school, with the right teachers for you, there are a lot of factors to consider.

In my opinion, the main differences between going to an art school and learning on your own, are time and source of motivation.

By learning on your own, things that could be taught by a professional in a couple of lessons, may took years on your own, you could learn them the wrong way and then realize you'd have to restart from zero, and that could put you down. But it's not impossible to achieve the level you aim to on your own, it's just harder.

I'm putting it down very simplistically, but I hope it helps.
