So yesterday I went for a job at a coffee shop called Costa. They were all friendly there, but the best part was how accommodating they were
I told them I was autistic, and rather than seem nervous or unsure about it, they treated me well. As soon as it was said, they were all, “Oh don’t worry!”, and, “We’ll just have you do this task today and get you to other things another day. That way you won’t feel overwhelmed”. And when I did make a bigger mistake, rather than talk down to me, they were calm and understanding of it
It’s little things like this that more companies should do. Stuff like this can really help an autistic person feel less overloaded in the workplace
