So every vision you have, it always comes true? I don’t know. I’m still figuring all this out. So you might be wrong.

Okay, here’s something I haven’t seen much talk about (possibly because I’ve been pretty much AFK for a week).
At around 24:07, Briana says they’ve seen the plot breakdown for the season Dabb and Berens want to do. They have the whole first season mapped out, and, per Briana, it’s full of THINGS THE SPN PRODUCERS HAVE LEARNED. The context makes it clear that they mean THINGS WE’VE COMPLAINED ABOUT AND WANT TO SEE ADDRESSED.
Do you guys even know how MIND-BOGGLING that is to me? I’m a fandom old, this shit just DID NOT HAPPEN. Man, when I think how dismissive Chris Carter was about Mulder/Scully, and then I look at what Kim and Briana are saying about what Berens and Dabb are planning, just, WOW.
I want this show SO BAD, y’all. SO. BAD. I know they’re not still counting tweets for ratings, but I guaran-damn-tee you they’re tracking the hashtag. If you’re like me and really don’t want to even deal with Twitter most of the time, please at least go @ the writers and actors with #wayward sisters. I’m too damn old to break in a new fandom.
ok but seriously, can we talk about how perfectly sending Claire to Jody sets things up for the best imaginable spin-off?
right now we have Jody, Alex, and Claire under the same roof. Plus, you know Dean drops Jody a line to look up Krissy, Aiden, and Josephine, or told that gang to connect with Jody at some point. I’m sure Donna is around/in touch a lot. And Mrs Tran could definitely use a network of awesome lady friends right now, and if Kevin is still hanging around he’d get along great with these girls.
And if Kevin’s made it through the veil by now, well, we know Death isn’t good-bye forever. You know who my holy tech trinity is?
Kevin, Charlie, and Ash.
Seriously, with Ash in heaven, Kevin somewhere in between, and Charlie on earth, they’d be amazing at networking with each other! Literally my favorite scenario to imagine is charlie working on a computer and suddenly getting an IM from an unknown messenger and it turns out to be Ash - how cool would that be?!
Really, like, this is the perfect set of people to make an AMAZING ensemble show out of. They’re all people who’ve learned from the Winchesters mistakes, so unlike Bloodlines, it wouldn’t be watching literally the same show all over again. Its an INCREDIBLY diverse cast, and the perfect demonstration of ‘family don’t end in blood.’ They’ve got people at all different stages of life and dealing with different stuff and spread out all over the place, but seriously, they could tell such amazing stories with this group. It would be amazing to see this new generation of hunters learning and growing and being BETTER than the generation before them, learning to balance hunting with a happy life, working together and ugh, just, i need this to be a thing.

Still trending worldwide on Twitter, if this doesn’t give them a hint then idk what does!
wayward!
Oh gosh. Where do I begin?
Claire arrives in the first scene and brings the light with her. Claire regularly arriving in bursts of fire and light.
“I kill monsters. That’s who the hell I am.”
“Sam and Dean... were on a hunting trip and I haven’t heard from them in a few days.” And that answers the anti-Wayward complaint, doesn’t it? Sam and Dean aren’t “diminished” by the women coming to rescue them. They aren’t helpless victims tied to the train tracks. They’re in the same position that John was in the pilot, and the new generation of hunters -- the ones they had a huge hand in training and inspiring -- are their legacy, just like Sam and Dean themselves were once upon a time.
“Heroic battle with a doorknob. I tripped.” So my pre-episode preemptive Claire/Kaia shipping was right on the money I see :p That was really telegraphed, wasn’t it? Scar comparisons. Hand-holding. Emotional bonding. And just as I was thinking, “Well, that almost takes all the suspense out of it!” THAT happened. WHAT NOW????? What’s going on with Kaia? IS that Kaia? It must be on some level -- hence the dreams tying her to that place -- but... well... what now? I’m not sure how I feel about that.
“Oh, yeah, you betcha.”
I was expecting ensemble scenes most of the time, but they got a chance to give us a little Donna-and-Jody action and I’m so happy about that! Fingers crossed it’s a major part of the series when (when!) it gets picked up.
Ditto the couple of little bonding moments between Donna and Patience -- it’d be interesting to see a mentor relationship develop there. And Patience and Alex, too -- that was really low-key, compared to some of the other relationships, but it was nice to see it quietly developing in the background. I liked the little scene of them skipping rocks together.
“If I’m gonna go out, that’s how I wanna do it: doing something great.” You know, suddenly I’m getting flashbacks to the Claire who said yes to Castiel to save her parents.
Jody: You guys take care of the world. We got Sioux Falls covered. Dean: Damn right you do.
Wayward is Here
This is it, guys. This is not a drill. This is the week we’ve been waiting for for 2.5 years. Please, please:
• Watch live this Thursday night at 8EST on the CW
• Shout positivity on every social network
• Use the hashtags! #WaywardSisters #Supernatural
• Take pics in your shirts!
• SPREAD THE LOVE 💙
(Please share!)
“We need to also remember to type out in full “ #SUPERNATURAL ” so you don’t accidentally auto select the “SUPERNATURAI “ hashtag that replaces “L” with a capitol “i”. They look the same. Type it out once and copy paste to make it easier.” (x)
Also, PLEASE, for the love of lil bunnies, resist the temptation to add any additional hashtags to your tweets. Yes, we love #Wayward, but DO NOT ADD ANY OTHER TAGS BESIDES #WAYWARDSISTERS AND #SUPERNATURAL.
The metric Twitter uses to track tags is arcane and obscure, but from everything I’ve been able to gather, IF YOU USE ADDITIONAL TAGS IN YOUR TWEET, YOU MIGHT AS WELL NOT TWEET AT ALL.
Show your support, yes, BUT DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO MAKE IT ACTUALLY COUNT!
YES THIS ^ IS SUPER IMPORTANT!!!
Thirteen years ago, the words “Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days” started something massive. Supernatural, which follows brothers Sam and Dean Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles), fighting monsters as they drive across the states in a classic car, has become The CW’s longest running show. It has also spawned one of the largest, most vocal internet fandoms: the #SPNFamily.
Supernatural’s first major evolution occurred in its fourth season. With the introduction of angel Castiel (Misha Collins), the show shifted from an American road trip populated with urban legends like Bloody Mary and the Hook Man to epic battles in which Sam and Dean save the world from biblical threats, with the fallen angel on their shoulder. And now, with a familiar turn of phrase—"Sam and Dean are missing. They were on a hunting trip, and I haven’t heard from them in a few days"—another chapter is here. The backdoor pilot of Wayward Sisters, the first all-woman-led sci-fi/horror show, will air as the mid-season premiere of Supernatural this Thursday.
Wayward picks up with a group of Supernatural’s most beloved secondary characters coming together to save the boys’ asses from an alternate universe known as The Bad Place. You’ve got Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes), a Sioux Falls law woman who lost her husband and son to the supernatural, and her three adopted girls: Alex Jones (Katherine Ramdeen), raised by vampires who used her as bait to lure victims; Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton), a troubled young woman who throws herself recklessly into hunting; and, most recently, Patience Turner (Clark Backo), who chose to follow her powerful psychic gift instead of the perfect apple-pie life ahead of her. Teaming up with out-of-towner Sheriff Donna Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster), a bubbly, badass vampire hunter, and Kaia Nieves (Yadira Guevara-Prip), a scarred Dream Walker who can enter alternate universes, the group hopes to find the Winchesters before a portal between the two worlds closes for good.
Wayward Sisters has been gestating for about seven years. The CW has become the master of efficiently launching spinoff series (think The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow), but Wayward has slowly and surely taken shape, almost by its own volition. With the introduction of Jody in Supernatural’s fifth season, a show about a group of diverse, complex women was born within a series centered on men—unbeknownst to anyone at the time. “Once we told the story of Jody sort of adopting Alex, the first Wayward daughter, that was sort of planting a flag…like, wait, there’s a story here that’s bigger than Supernatural—or, I should say, there’s a story that’s going to continue outside the frame of our own series,” says writer and co-executive producer Robert Berens, who works on both shows. “[It] was a real combination of something that we built very consciously over several years and also something that developed very organically.”
#why yes our fandom has mastered the tulpa…
Should Wayward go to series, hiring women writers, directors, and crew members will be an important focus. "That’s something we’d put a high priority on and it’s something we’ve talked about internally," Dabb says. "Every show is a collaboration. Supernatural is not mine, it’s ours—there are a lot of different voices, and those voices [belong to] talented people."
Okay, I know this is never going to happen, but you know what? Fuck it, I really want it to happen. I just thought about all 6 members of Wayward Sisters being unequivocally queer and in being in a relationship because just think about it?? They all make so much sense to me and they’re also so cute and asdfghjkl????
- Jody and Donna are this weird power couple and no one except their closest friends can really fathom why they’re together, because Jody seems like such a tough chick and she always looks exasperated when Donna turns up with one of her newest impossible ice cream or candy combinations on a case for fuck’s sake (but she still eats it because let’s be real). And no one knows (except maybe Dean because he was totally invited with Cas) that secretly they love to cuddle up on the couch and watch both the most ridiculous romance and horror movies, mocking how inaccurate they are and how their monsters and their relationship is so much better. Like they shoot the biggest monsters only to then look at each other and say “you know what, I think I’m feeling ‘Love, Actually’ tonight” and then they go back and watch it because they both love chick flicks. And Donna makes popcorn with the weirdest flavors, and Jody eats every bit of it when Donna falls asleep on her shoulder.
- Patience and Alex, both trying to live a life as normal as possible while still hunting and discovering their true identities in the process, teaming up perfectly? Patience can see when shit is about to go down, and Alex is there to patch the people up when something still goes kind of awry (Patience learns a shit ton of first aid and stuff, too, because she thinks it’s too dangerous to let her go alone). And they don’t even have to talk about it during the hunt, they just function so well together and are driven by their desire to just help people? After the hunt they return to their bedroom and Alex is groaning how unfair it is that she has to turn up to work in 8 hours, and Patience is groaning how she didn’t study for the last test because of the hunt and how bad she feels that she has to use her powers for covering that up. And Alex will just snuggle closer and tell her that it’s okay, because they both agree that it’s worth it for saving the number of people they do, and basically being the most badass medics the hunting world has ever seen.
- Claire and Kaia. WHERE DO I EVEN BEING. They’re probably the last couple to get together, because they can’t figure their shit out and have abandonment issues and are sure the other one doesn’t like them like that, but when they do? Woah. At first, they bond over their shitty childhoods, jokingly trying to one-up each other to cover up how bad they feel, and talking about the fine line they walk between hating their parents but still somehow loving them. They talk about the restlessness they feel because they spent so many years on the run, and it’s not because they don’t like it at Jody’s but because they just sometimes need something – different. So one time Kaia decides to take Claire dream walking, and it’s beautiful and somehow exact the thing they need and it’s so much easier to go the good places with Claire because she’s basically such a huge beacon of light guiding the way (even though she’d never say that because she’s embarrassed). And they there all night and figure out that this is something they just need to do every now and then and it’s so much better when there’s someone by your side for this journey. When they finally kiss it happens in a dream, and it’s like – they don’t talk about it, they just let it happen and they’re both determined to let it stay in their dreams but when the next hunt comes they just find themselves reaching out for the others hand and somehow they just – never bother to let go.
I’m making myself feel things.
this is a fandom rec post
I don’t know if I have TVD followers anymore, since I wasn’t ever really active in the tumblr side of fandom, BUT, hey—
*throws this post into the tags anyway, just in case*
Here is a thing you might like, fandom!
You might have heard about Wayward Sisters, the Supernatural spin-off whose pilot episode is airing this Thursday Jan 18th as part of its current season.
It’s about six women and girls coming together into a found family, while protecting their city from monsters and (in a couple of cases) dealing with their own supernatural powers too.
It feels like something a lot of TVD fans and/or former fans could be into, especially if you loved the relationships between the TVD girls or if you wished we could have seen more of them. That’s one of the reasons I’m excited about it! Some of the character dynamics ping me as similar, too.
I feel like if you loved Caroline and Liz together, or Liz herself, or if you loved Bonnie and wanted to see more of her dealing with her powers, or maybe if you wanted to see more of post-vampirism Elena, or if you just wanted to see more of the girls together having their own complicated relationships and supporting each other through their trauma.... you might like this.
So what is it? Who is it about?
Jody and Donna are both police sheriffs who hunt monsters on the side. Donna is a big ball of sunshine who stumbled into the supernatural world by chance. Jody’s son and husband were killed by zombies years ago and she’s been dealing with that ever since.
A few years after that, Jody took in a teenage girl called Alex who was traumatized after being kidnapped as a child and raised by vampires. Alex has been living with Jody for a while now, trying to live a normal human life, going to nursing school, but her past haunts her.
She and Jody are really close.
My fierce, loving town sheriff and her ex-vampire daughter <3
Jody later took in another girl, Claire, after her parents were killed. Claire’s been off on her own for a while, learning to hunt monsters. She’s not sure where she fits in the world.
The Claire-Jody relationship gets the prickliness/uncertainty/“Do I belong in this family”/“Do we understand each other” feelings that early Liz-Caroline did
I see them onscreen and I’m just instantly rolling around in buckets of love
And now the two newest characters! We haven’t seen much of them yet but they’re great.
Patience Turner is a teenage budding psychic and a straight A student...
And Kaia Nieves is a dreamwalker tormented by the powers she doesn’t yet know how to control
The show hasn’t been picked up yet -- it’s a backdoor pilot like The Originals was -- so the better ratings and the more twitter buzz it gets, the better chance it has at becoming its own series. A big part of the Supernatural fandom is rallying behind the episode to encourage the network to pick it up.
The backdoor pilot airs on Thursday January 18th as an episode of Supernatural. Check it out if you’re interested! And hashtag #wayward and #supernatural if you want to throw some support at it :)
Do you think it would be worth it to rec the Wayward pilot to other fandoms? Or just focus on or own fandom right now?
It’s definitely worth it! I learned about Wynonna Earp through recs from Supernatural fans!
Rec it to people who are looking for female led shows and who like things like Wynonna Earp, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, hell, even the X Files. This could really appeal to a large audience! And the more people who watch it, the better.
Ha, now that you mention it, so did I. It’s on my ‘things to watch’ list now.
All right, cool. I’ll do that :)
Well, i did this ♥ Wish u all a happy new year <3
TVLINE | We’ve now met all the Wayward girls, but we haven’t seen them interact. What’s the dynamic like between the four of them in Episode 10? ROBERT BERENS | It’s a layer cake of different relationships. There’s a handful of really close bonds, some of which we are already familiar with, including Jody and Donna. But there’s some tension, certainly, amongst the girls, some of [whom are] just getting to know each other for the first time. Essentially, the Wayward episode is Claire’s homecoming in the wake of this calamity, and she’s walking into a household that has been changed since she’s been gone on the road.
Propelled by her visions, Patience is now staying with Jody. Claire has no idea who she is or what she’s doing, sleeping in what she thought of as her bedroom. Alex and Claire have a very loving but still prickly dynamic, which has gotten perhaps even a little more prickly because Claire left Jody alone, and Alex is very protective of Jody’s emotions. Ultimately, there are a lot of layers of conflict, but also a lot of love. As with our flagship [show], it’s about that kind of family relationship.
TVLINE | In this scenario, you have hunters that are also law enforcement. How does that change things in terms of plot and what they can do? ANDREW DABB | [Episode] 10 is a very specific animal. It’s putting the team together to go save Sam and Dean. If we’re fortunate to have this show go forward, having Jody and Donna be a part of law enforcement, it creates opportunities. You don’t have to worry about the cops interrupting your hunt, because the cops are with you. They’re hunters. But it creates some limitations, too. It gives it some stakes. Jody is a public figure in Sioux Falls. If she gets caught standing over a beheaded body, people know who she is. It’s not a Sam and Dean situation where they can lie about who they are and hit the road. So it both offers us some opportunities, and it offers some good tension going forward.
TVLINE | You have a nice mix of fan favorites and new characters in the Wayward episode. Was there any thought about adding other characters we’ve seen, like the young hunter Krissy or the brother-and-sister witches, Max and Alicia Banes? DABB | Ultimately, what you’re doing when you’re making a pilot, especially a pilot like this, is you’re creating opportunities. Even if those characters and some other characters from the Supernatural universe are not part of our core cast, those are people we would want to have the opportunity to use in Wayward and, potentially, in Supernatural going forward. Should Wayward be fortunate enough to go forward, we want to cross-pollinate the two shows as much as we can. Sometimes that will be with higher-profile characters: Sam and Dean, Castiel. Sometimes that would be with other characters like the ones you’re mentioning. Also, the way we see the situation in Jody’s house in Wayward, generally, is to some degree a little bit fluid. New people can come in and leave. It becomes a kind of rest stop along the way, but also something where we can explore other characters in this dynamic. Because like you mentioned, there are a lot of characters out there — Krissy, some characters we met this year like the safe-cracker [Alice] — who could be really fun to explore in this new context. BERENS | Jody’s door is always open.
TVLINE | Jack formed a bond of sorts with Kaia. Can we expect him to have a relationship with the Wayward cast of characters? DABB | As mentioned, should Wayward go forward, we’d like some cross-pollination, and Jack could certainly be a part of that. I don’t know that Jack is ready for a “relationship” at this point. He’s about three months old. So let’s give him a little time.
Though obviously the blessing and support of the Winchester brothers is vital, Wayward Sisters is all about its female protagonists. Briana Buckmaster opened up to us about how she feels regarding her character Donna’s journey from her early days in Supernatural to her inclusion in the spinoff, and she’s really, really excited about it. “It’s going to give women a chance to tell those stories, to feel more involved, and to get them even more excited about the show, if that’s humanly possible,” Buckmaster laughed.
“When I was cast in that role, it wasn’t even a guest star role at the time, and I was super excited to play this character that had this kind of complex storyline. Over the last couple of years she’s developed strengths in new areas that teach her to grow in places where she thought she was weak. So what a great thing for me as a human, and as an actress, to get to learn through Donna,” Buckmaster told us.
Explaining the new show’s set up and its stars, Buckmaster painted a picture of a group of women looking out for each other. “Jody, as we know, has been taking in these wayward girls and helping them in situations where some of them are finding they’re parentless or without a leader in their life. In a similar sense, my character [Donna] is there to assist Jody in a way. And I think the character Patience is the perfect addition because she comes from a different background than a lot of the women, who come from rougher beginnings. It’ll be exciting to see what that character brings, or learns even. The new character coming in, I don’t think I can say too much without giving it away, but she’s going to be unlike any of the characters in a really exciting way. A brand new way that has so many opportunities for the actress, for the character, and for the characters around her,” Buckmaster enthused.
When it comes to the Wayward Sisters themselves, Buckmaster has a very clear view on what the show stands for and what the stars of it could come to mean to fans. “The women in the pilot are not there to solely serve the Winchesters or to serve any men. They’re there to help each other and help themselves, and that’s an exciting opportunity for the viewers to see. Six ordinary women learning how to save themselves, to be their own heroes. Now’s the time that lots of TV is discovering that women want to have stories told by women, they want to have their voices heard, and this is just an opportunity that WB and The CW are giving to all of us,” explained the actress.
We can’t wait to see the world of Wayward Sisters! The backdoor pilot for Wayward Sisters will air on Supernatural on January 18.
PSA
I’ve seen a post going around with some hateful comments about Waywayd Sisters, coming from the same old few. I was mostly indifferent toward the possible SPN spinoff until the hate became unbearable. Now I can say that I will support the hell out of that show because it’s 2018 for Chuck’s sake and these things cannot keep happening in our fandom. The show may or may not get picked up, but let’s give the beautiful SPN ladies plus cast and crew a chance to surprise us all. Please let’s not hate for the sake of it.
The haters are just a few, but they’re very vocal. (I even tried to block the ones in that post and realized I had blocked them before). We need to follow their example in the sense that we need to be more vocal than they are. The loving side of the Supernatural fandom is a lot larger than the haters, so it’s time to join forces and give Wayward Sisters our support to balance the incredible amount of unjustified wank it’s receiving.
It’s time to use the #Wayward and #WaywardSisters hashtags to spread positivity on these coming days here on Tumblr and on Twitter and Instagram. Let’s show everyone what our family is really capable of and let’s drown the voices of those who certainly should not be what other fandoms see about us.
Don’t forget y’all that family don’t end with blood! ♥
It’ll probably get even worse after the episode airs -- if they’re already so set on being angry about it now, without even having seen it, then for a lot of them the episode itself will probably just add fuel to the fire. Those of us who are rooting for it are going to need to keep the positivity going well beyond the 18th. Not that it’ll be hard to do -- I’m sure seeing the episode will add fuel to our fire too :)
