Beautiful Butterflies

Do you know what? These beautiful butterfly pictures are from one of my favorite places, The Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC. GramPage told me that it used to be called The Children's Museum and that she has been going there a very long time. My mom and I have a membership and go there a lot.  There is a Butterfly House there, so that is where the pictures of all the butterflies are taken. I can't wait to go see the butterflies and dinosaurs. 

Male Postman courting a female (by Museum of Life + Science)These are Postmen (Heliconius erato) from Ecuador. The female is visiting a Pentas flower, and the male is fluttering his wings above her, producing an attractant, or pheromone in hopes of getting her to mate.

This is my favorite butterfly. I call it the yellow ballerina, but it is actually called a yellow tiger swallowtail. It comes to my butterfly garden everyday in the summer. We have lots of them.
