I was so happy about my own DAHC gift this year and it makes me sad that you haven’t gotten anything yet. So, after reading your wishlist this was the first idea that came to mind. Carver & Merrill - Kirkwall Noir. They are the protagonists in a “Noir AU” where Merrill is the head of a booze smuggle ring during prohibition and Carver is an undercover cop set to capture her and stop the underground activities of Merrill and her gang (though I think Merrill might just be a “fake” boss and that someone behind her is pulling all the strings and just wants to stay under the radar). So yes, that sums up what went through my head while I drew this. Spent all my afternoon on this so that you can get your gift and I really, really hope you like it!

something i completely missed on my first readthru of gilgamesh is that when he rejects ishtar, and lists all the evil things she’s done to her past lovers as reason, when she goes to her father god to ask to borrow the bull of heaven she basically threatens a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE if she doesn’t get her way. 

also man when the original translation of gilgamesh says this:

how. how does anyone not ship them. it is canon. also it is one possible reason why he would have rejected ishtar, if he was getting his libido satisfied by his bisexual wildman lover (EVERYONE IN THESE STORIES IS BISEXUAL IT IS THE MOST AWESOME THING)

I started this video skeptical and cynical and full of hate in my heart, only to fall hopelessly in love halfway through. I feel like I've just learned an important life lesson here.

I think the interesting distinction between the relationships that Merrill has with the Hawke boys is really in the color difference. I based these pieces on photos from the Audrey Hepburn version of Sabrina, and the clothes really set the relationships apart. With David, it was all white. White dress, white suit. With Linus it’s a black dress and a black (darkish gray?) suit.

I think the dichotomy in the Fair Child world is just as important and distinct. So, finally! Some Merrill and Carver love!
