I once thought I could protect the world by myself, but I was wrong. Working together, we saved the planet, and I believe that if we stay together as a team, we could be a force that could truly work for the ideals of peace and justice.

Has it been a year since Warner Bros. announced their DC Movie Slate?? Man, how time goes by. Who would’ve thought we’d get a woman directing a Wonder Woman movie? Hell, who thought we would be getting a Wonder Woman movie at all and that said movie would be the prelude to the Justice League? WE’RE GETTING A JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE IN TWO YEARS FFS. Who would’ve thought that a POC would be playing Aquaman and have the director of said film be a Malaysian-born Australian director? Or the first openly queer/bi-sexual actor headlining a major superhero movie? Or THE FUCKING ROCK IN A DC MOVIE PERIOD? A CYBORG MOVIE? GREEN LANTERN CORPS?

How many people a year ago would’ve thought that SUICIDE SQUAD, a movie that consists of mostly B, C, and D villains would assemble quite possibly the most diverse cast in a major comic book movie yet headline by WILL SMITH and JARED LETO AS THE JOKER. Also, would’ve thought that that film’s trailer (which was representative of a product that hadn’t finished filming yet and was never meant to be seen by the general public) would get more views than the Batman V. Superman SDCC trailer?

TL;DR I cannot wait for the DC Extended Universe to start getting underway.

I love all the complaints about the possibility of George Miller directing a DCEU movie, especially with “having to adapt to the DCEU’s shit aesthetic.” Um….What? You want to talk about shit aesthetics that look the same, try every MCU movie save for Age of Ultron, Guardians, and Winter Soldier.

Does Batman V. Superman look like Man of Steel? Does Suicide Squad look like Batman V. Superman? Given how much of an auteur Miller is, he’d fit right in to the DCEU.

But like more importantly, why do you care if George Miller directs a movie you claim you’re not going to see? If you hate the direction on the DCEU so much, wouldn’t you WANT them to get directors you like for future films, to make the films better than they are?

If they can attract a director like George Miller then it’s entirely possible that Miller appreciates that aesthetic, and if you love Miller enough to follow him to a movie you apparently WEREN’T going to watch in the first place, it’s possible your gasp! precious high brow opinion on the directing in the DCEU has always been just as subjective as everyone else’s.

I almost guarantee you with how DC/WB are giving their creators a lot of creative control, if George Miller directs a DCEU movie no matter how “shit” the aesthetic is, that will have all been his vision so y’all need to shut the fuck up. Y’all looking for every reason to hate on the DCEU as if 1. George Miller, wasn’t just a few years ago developing Justice League Mortal movie, 2. George Miller having a great Relationship with WB and wanting to work with them doesn’t factor into this and 3. if he did sign on to direct MoS 2 or any other DCEU film, that was his decision. After the critical and commercial success of not only Mad Max: Fury Road but the whole entire franchise, I’m almost certain the WB will let him direct whatever the fuck he wants to and if he chose a DCEU movie that’s what he wanted.

EXACTLY. His legacy with WB and the Mad Max films alone give him a ton of clout to do whatever he pleases. He even said that his hear is with DC Comics, but if he only wants to do Mad Max/original movies, they’ll let him. If he really wants to direct a DC adaptation (Man of Steel, Cyborg, Flash, Heaven Sent, Green Lantern Corps etc.) or a Vertigo adaption (100 Bullets, Sandman etc.), they’ll let him.

"What we are doing is ground up all the way. It is one giant story,"  The first thing we had was the Justice League concept. The other movies, in a way, have to support that. That is our Wonder Woman, our Aquaman. They have their own creative concepts that supports them, but they do serve Justice League in the coming together of those heroes.

Zack Snyder on the DCEU
