We moved! Still unpacking and putting final touches on the house
Sunny is helping with painting.*
*) This was a fresh, never used roller sleeve, and I gently encouraged Sunny to let go after he'd mistakenly grabbed it Everyone came away unscathed, if somewhat confused.
Let a girl explore today on the wood pile
The Great Bend Weekly Tribune, Kansas, March 2, 1906
I fell down a rabbit hole last night researching this girl and found some photographs of her that are just peak Weird Little Girl (affectionate) energy, so I’m sharing.
Gladys (sometimes spelled Gladyce) Ditmars was born October 16, 1903 in the Bronx.
Her father, Raymond L. Ditmars was, at the time, the assistant reptile curator at the Bronx Zoo, and would later be appointed curator of the entire zoo.
Raymond met his future wife, Clara, when she was visiting the zoo and witnessed Raymond break up a fight between two venomous snakes. She was so impressed she asked to meet him. They were married eight months later. The venue was decorated with snake skins and Clara wore a live gopher snake around her neck during the ceremony.
HERE SHE COMES! SHE’S ON HER WAY!
Since I'm coming back to using this blog more often I should introduce my other snake Archie!
He's a corn snake I inherited from a family who's kid had lost interest and thought I would be happier with him. He was my first foray into reptile keeping and taught me so much and though he wouldn't have been my first pick as a first snake, I'm so grateful every day that he fell into my lap. I've had him for about 7 years now and to my knowledge he's pushing around 9 years old. He's been with me through so much and is just the perfect angel of a snake, idk what I'd have done without him <3

A snake story, based on an experience I had while I was in Florida.
She’s just?? Gorgeous?? She seems like she’s gotten a little less red after her last shed, it happens sometimes with rainbows. There’s a 50/50 chance she can either go back to being bright red, or stay a mild red like this. Either way is cool with me cause I love herrrrrrrrrr

Thank you SO MUCH for your service. I’ve been so confused. Is this snake or dog? I heard snakes don’t have ears??
Hey no problem. I'm here to answer the hard questions that others are afraid to tackle. This is definitely a smooth coated rabbithund. A hunting breed of dog that utilizes mimicry to take down prey. Happy to help!
free snake on craigslist in the nyc area if anyone with experience is interested 🥺 a baby
holy shit
That is a species that upon maturity will require an entire room-sized enclosure with heating and humidity controls, and as an adult is strong enough to potentially seriously injure or kill you via asphyxiation. Not to mention the eventual size of the animals it will need to be fed (hope you have a big freezer!). Unfortunately, this snake's long term needs cannot be safely or ethically met by 99% of the population, and yet they're bred and sold with such abandon that pretty much any facility that could deal with them probably already has one. Most of them either die young from inadequate care or are euthanized (or carelessly released) when they get too big. Definitely not a "steal" in any way.
HELLO??????
