Why did nobody in Fullmetal Alchemist carry around some fucking backup transmutation circles. Like Riza is there with a box full of fresh gloves for Roy when he gets soaked but you’d think after the first time he got rendered useless in a fight by some dude with a water bottle he’d start carrying around a spare set in a waxed bag or something but NOOOOO. And Ed’s even fucking worse like his arm gets destroyed how many times???? AND HE ACTS SURPRISED EVERY TIME. OH NO MY ARM. NOW I CAN’T ALCHEMY. Shit, boy, draw some transmutation circles ahead of time and keep em in your coat, this isn’t hard. “Oh no, you’ve destroyed my arm again, whatever shall I SIKE” Ed says, before throwing a rock with ‘explode’ written on it at his attacker and making good his escape. i like to think al, after everything would like, travel around, never staying in one place very long. i mean after having a taste of adventure and exploration from xing not to mention four years of running around amestris searching the stone, he'll maybe feel restless and a little bit cooped up staying in one place, itll be like what hohenheim did (tho without the "leaving his family to save the souls of millions in amestris including his family from a wannabe god" thing) he even has the suits and the little suitcase to match askfksa
he goes on the road and its like, theres always something new that catches his eye and a new interest he could try his hands on and a new food he never tried before and everythings a new experience and things he revisited almost feels like experiencing it for the first time again and it never gets old because theres always something new
and he phones ed and winry almost daily to tell them his day and vice versa and also visits them frequently and always drop by when hes near (and important dates he always stays a few days) and he likes to visit xing too to see ling and mei and the others of the xing squad, other friends he made along the canon's journey and after
he also helps people along the way, maybe with fixing roofs and little trinkets and peoples tools, be thou for the people and etc. and also maybe he'd come across some shady alchemists and gets into some *ahem* disagreements ("you punched his nose?? hell yeah al" "brother youre not helping!!")
plus i like imagining al meeting the people he and ed have met in their stone-searching years again after years, "alphonse? oh is that you? its been so long, finally finished that training hobby of yours with the armor?" "haha yeah..........." "well i can see youve grown into quite a handsome young man now" "(now blushing) ahaha,,,"
