so ok yeah fine i watched gravity falls again and read the book of bill
You know. After The Book of Bill I have. Thoughts on Ford. Mostly that he straight up spent the majority of his life being a pretty shit person.
Like. I know he thought he was the good twin, but he really, truly wasn’t. Because it wasn’t Stan who stayed furious over a single mistake for thirty years. It wasn’t Stan who thought that Ford was the worst person to exist. It wasn’t Stan who called up his twin he hadn’t seen in three decades to put him in danger instead of just destroying the journals.
Ford is an incredibly selfish person. The opposite of Stan. Because at the root of his character, that’s what he is. Selfless. He dropped everything to help a brother he hadn’t seen for three decades. He dropped everything to allow his grand niblings to stay. He hoards money and his actions are… iffy at best, but he shows multiple times he will do literally anything for his family. For those he loves. He faked his own death in order to make sure he kept Ford’s house so he could bring him back. The guy probably taught himself advanced physics in order to figure this all out.
On the other hand, Ford had a completely legal and legitimate career. And yet all he did was take. He took advantage of his and Fiddleford’s friendship. He struck a deal with Bill because Bill stroked his ego. He got back to his home dimension and the first thing he did was attack his savior. He nearly caused Bill to win because he just needed to fight with Stan over grammar. He sent Mabel to the unicorns knowing better than anyone the dangers of the forest.
It wasn’t until Stan sacrificed his life in order to save the world that he even looked at his brother as anything other than an annoyance.
Out of all the Pines, Ford stands as the one who spent his life as the worst person.

I can understand why a person might dislike the other 3, there is still depth in that but I get disliking them.
But wtf Mabel is 12 and just acted like a child xD
(Also no hate for my beloved Six, no no, she did nothing wrong, she's just a baby UwU)
I think most people, myself included, don’t actually hate her specifically. It’s a dislike of how she’s treated by the narrative as opposed to Dipper. I don’t hate her myself, but I do dislike the fact that stuff she did was deemed as perfectly fine while, when Dipper did the exact same thing, he was made out to be the villain.
The best example, for me, comes in Time Traveller’s Pig vs. The Deep End.
In the first one, when Mabel sacrifices something for Dipper, it’s seen as forced. A bad thing. Waddles, who, at that time, Mabel had not known long at all, being sacrificed for Dipper to impress Wendy was the bad thing. He was the villain.
However, when Mabel falls for Mermando, she convinces Dipper to sacrifice his job at the pool. And she’s not seen as the villain for that. She’s also not seen as the villain in Sock Opera where she breaks her promise to Dipper, eventually causing him to turn to Bill.
Roadside Attraction is also an example of this. Mabel has been actively flirting with multiple boys the whole summer. Meanwhile, when Dipper flirts with multiple girls, and unintentionally breaks Candy’s heart, he’s the bad guy.
Now yeah, people do say she was selfish for giving the rift, which she knows was not hers, away. I don’t agree with them and think they’re turning far more malicious than it actually was. She’s twelve. She made a dumb, selfish decision because she’s twelve.
But I have seen less and less of people who hate her for being selfish, and a rise of people that the way her actions are framed vs. Dipper’s. I’m part of that group in all honesty.
I just realized something.
Bill fulfilled his side of his and Mabel's deal.
She asked for a little more summer, right? Well, time outside of Gravity Falls completely stopped while Bill ruled, and he ruled for about a week. So when Bill was defeated, it was still a week until Dipper and Mabel's birthday.
So Mabel actually got an extra week of summer. It just wasn't what she had planned for.
