Cute GerEng thought I had on the drive home from work: When they are in Britain, England is the designated driver and Germany gets to enjoy the view, chat about this and that with Arthur. When they are in Germany, it’s Ludwig’s turn to drive and England has the opportunity to monologue about whatever is on his mind. They fill each other’s silence.
Germany wants YOU 👇🏻
to eat his Bratwurst !
Okay, I was going to write an entire essay about it but I suck at it so you’re just going to have to take my word on it and look up the symptoms yourself, but I really do think you could argue that Germany shows signs of Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. (OCPD) It’s sorta related to OCD but it heavily focuses on perfectionism and order. I don’t think he actually has it, but it would be an interesting headcannon.
Thank you for the ask this is SUPER interesting! 👀 I looked OCPD up and read some stuff about it and I can definitely see what you mean about Germany showing signs of it. Wanting to do everything perfectly, using lists and planning every little detail - it does fit him!
But I also agree that from how we see him in canon he doesn't have it. It would be interesting in an AU though! Seeing him getting lost in plans and work and details so much that he forgets about anything around him, neglecting himself, his friends, his hobbies.. He would convince himself that it's fine and tell off everyone who suggests for him to find help :(
The article I read also said that people with OCPD see acts of affection as something that has to be perfected and they can be overly formal, making them seem almost cold despite them meticulously picking every word. 🥺 Doesn't that sound a little familiar? I immediately thought about that episode where Germany reads a book on how to do romantic stuff!!
I always liked reading fics where characters are written as showing symptoms of psychologial disorders or having mental health issues so thanks again for sending this in :D
