Beauty and the beast AU but it's clown makeup on Francis's face that can't wash off or be covered up, and that brush instead of a rose, and Arthur has to fall in love with him before the final bristle falls off.
This has been sitting in my ask box for a while because I have so many questions. but I also have some thoughts. (it's been a few years since I last watched beauty and the beast so bear with me if I dont remember things correctly).
- first of all I'm sorry but let's add Gil as Gaston. Arthur fleeing from him and his attempts to make him his spouse feels.. plausible.
- I cant decide to either the people are scared for Francis' clown makeup or (if this is all just a funny little parody) they laugh and make fun of him all the time and thats why hes hiding away.
- In this setting it would be a lot funnier if francis and arthur already knew each other before francis got cursed. Imagine everyone making fun of Francis except for Arthur who despised him already before the curse. and now he's the only one who is more or less indifferent about his appearance because he already hates his personality.
"Wait you.. you're not making fun of my.. appearance?" "Why would I make fun of your stupid face when I'm perfectly fine insulting your annoying personality?"
- so basically the story would be about Arthur ending up in Francis house/palace/castle and then having to deal with this clown trying to court him. and Gil thinking he has to rescue Arthur so he will marry him. rip arthur I guess, he just wants peace and a cup of tea.
- It probably wouldn't make much sense for the villagers to go after clown Francis, so I'm changing that part . Francis tries his hardest to make arthur comfortable and arthur starts to enjoy the attention (and the fact that at Francis' place hes safe from Gil), but the day is approaching quickly and the night before he is forever turned into a clown Francis runs away.
- Arthur is still in denial about his feelings but then Gil shows up and Arthur realises how good the time with Francis was and that he needs to find him to break the curse.
"I guess he made me realise that.. being with you.. it isn't so ba-" "Really?! Say it Arthur, it's only a few minutes until I will look like this forever! I need you to say it!" "Bloody hell, Francis! I was trying to have a moment here! For fucks sake yes, I love you!" -> this is how I imagine the most romantic scene in this entire au
- I'm not good with plot, especially endings so something something confession of love kiss kiss boo Gilbert something something wedding oh and the servants at Francis place are also turned back into humans.
- one last thought I need to add!! usually I'd say Francis and Arthur are the perfect cogsworth and lumiere, but since they are the protagonists and the objects could be whatever.. I want to have Ludwig as a character similar to cogsworth and Feliciano as lumiere.
