before any war, before any journey, before acorn and frodo knew what it meant to stray too far apart.
october 13th is acorn day, which is holiday i made up in order to celebrate my tolkien oc acorn! no other oc has taught me more about storytelling. i'll love you forever acorn littleoak
hehe omg okay.. before she goes with frodo on The Quest, she has a tailor shop in hobbiton, and still lives at bag end with frodo!
getting into tailoring was kind of a Big Deal, because the company essentially sees her as their collective niece, and they all tried to convince her to take up their respective crafts. dori has never let the others forget, being a tailor themself. acorn makes a lot of hobbitish clothing, but will incorporate a lot of dwarven symbols and styles into her designs. while in lórien, she seeks out to resupply her mending kit, and learns about elven weaving there and finds it fascinating
before the journey, she typically keeps her hair in two long braids, with smaller braids woven in. she cuts off a lot of her hair after moria, leaving certain parts just long enough for her family braid (behind her right ear) and her master’s braid (by her left temple)
she’s also hard of hearing, and grew up learning iglishmêk! she is not as fluent in sindarin as frodo is, but she is one of the very few non-dwarves on middle earth to be fluent in khuzdûl
anyway i love her so much pls ask me questions about acorn
ooh acorn full name! where does the name littleoak come from? and does he have a middle name?
acorn has so many names!
bilbo and thorin named her acorn aconite baggins. “littleoak” was originally a nickname given to her by the company when they would come and visit in the shire (acorns grow into little oaks after all), but acorn was proud of that connection to his da so he actually eventually named his shop after it (littleoak tailoring) and since then thats how lots of people know him. he normally introduces himself as acorn littleoak of bag end.
the elves call her acorn thorinion
her name is actually a placeholder technically. when thorin and bilbo adopted her, she was only a couple of months old and recovering from the illness that took her bio parents. they tried reaching out to find any other relatives- or at the very least to find out this baby’s name- to no avail. bilbo had started calling him “our little acorn” cause it made thorin get all flustered, but after about a week of that they were like. oh her name might actually just be acorn.
also i would like to introduce u all to acorn she’s a bagginshield baby and i love him sooooo much! also he eventually joins the fellowship and catches feelings for éowyn <3 go lesbians!
