It was the home of one of Germany´s richest people, Karl Albrecht, co-founder of Germany´s Supermarket Chain "Aldi", who died last week. He invented the Discount Supermarket in the 60´s with his brother Theo.
Albrecht was ranked 24 on this year’s Forbes list of the world’s richest people with an estimated net worth of $25.9bn (€19.1bn).
