Expert graders of the New York Coffee and Sugar Exchange are testing the contents of about 100,000 bags of Brazilian coffee (NYC, September 30th, 1931).
This is the first shipment of 1.05 million bags, for which the Federal Farm Board of the United States traded 25 million bushels of wheat. The NYCSE is handling the necessary work before handing the shipment over to the Farm Board. These graders – James P. Norton, Alex Barklie and William D. MacKay – have been testing coffee for about 25 years.
