Working on the new Harry Potter show is a great way to show you don’t care about trans people.
I really wish some of you cared as much about trans people as you do Harry Potter.

Trans lives are more important than Harry Potter.

I’ve reached a state in my social transition where I’m just at a low-level of fury CONSTANTLY (because, transphobia).
Random Genderfluid Thing #984
The amount of times I’ve had to explain why I don’t like JK Rowling/Harry Potter to people who know I’m trans baffles me.
In case anyone needs a reminder:
- Being trans does not make you a pervert
- Being trans does not mean you are a failure of a person
- Being trans does not mean people are laughing behind your back
- Being trans does not make you mentally ill
- There is nothing shameful about mental illness, but being trans isn’t a mental illness
- Anyone who makes you feel otherwise is a loser who’s far too obsessed with a stranger’s life to live their own.
If you are trans, you are loved & you are valid & you are seen & screw anyone who says otherwise.

Cis people just don’t get it.

So I have a job in a school district and I’m 99% sure I’m the only out trans person working in the entire district. That’s...fun.

The only people who consistently wear masks at my job are the trans people. I think that says something. I don’t know what but it says something.
stop judging transfems worth and validity by how "passing" their voices are.
ok but seriously this is such a big problem. my voice does not pass and i honestly love that! my voice is great! i dont want to change it. people shouldnt have to change parts of themselves just because others dont find it to their liking.
stop treating voice training like its some necessary crucible all transfems must endure to be a "real woman". voice has no bearing on gender. voice training is hard! not everyone has the time, energy, motivation, or will to do it. thats not a bad thing!
i could elaborate more on this but i dont feel a particular need to grovel on the ground and explain exactly why its okay for a woman to have a deep voice. its really goddamn simple honestly. if you cant understand that, youre transphobic, plain and simple.
Memes With Transphobic Origins
Change My Mind Meme
So the original format of this meme is problematic as hell but that’s not the reason it’s transphobic. The guy who is in the original meme is Steven Crowder, who does a lot of these, “Change My Mind,” things including this one (which IS transphobic):
Anything Dave Chappelle
I think this one is pretty self explanatory.
I Believe Everyone in This Story Should Die
I saw this meme circulating a while back, mostly as a reaction to some bullshit. While I can appreciate the sentiment, the original SNL Weekend Update segment it comes from is WILDLY transphobic. “John Lotter has been sentenced to death for attempting to kill three people in what prosecutors are calling a plot to silence a crossdressing female, who had accused him of rape. Now this might strike some viewers as harsh but I believe everyone involved in this story should die.” The, “joke,” here is, “Hey, trans women are discussing. We should kill them & everyone involved with them.” So yeah, it’s bad.
Those are the only ones I know about. Just thought I’d share.

Me (when I learned there are going to be as many trans coworkers at my new job as cis coworkers): Oooo, one more trans person and we’ll outnumber the cis folks! A Cis Coworker: Now come on, it’s not a competition. Me: Easy for you to say, you guys always win.
For a lot of trans people, we’re our true gender from birth (or at least a very young age). We weren’t born in the wrong bodies per say, but we’re inundated with messages that if your body isn’t a certain way, if you don’t present a certain way, dress a certain way, etc. then you’re not REALLY that gender. So in order to feel better about ourselves we start to follow that messaging, at least to a level we’re comfortable with. Then the same people who gave those messages about gender norms tell us we’re faking it for following them. Obviously different trans people have different relationships with their gender, but I have found this is a common enough experience among the trans community to generalize a bit.
What’s my point? My point is if your trans & struggling, you’re doing really well considering this is the way the world treats us.

Oh yeah, being trans is TOTALLY a choice. I always wanted people to call me a groomer & pedophile just for existing. I always wanted to fear for my life every time I step out the door because I don’t match what people think I should look like. I love that everyday when I turn on the news I see politicians and news stations attacking/denying my very existence. It’s SUPER fun.
(since tone is lost on the internet, this is sarcasm) (also sorry about being a downer, just going through some stuff)
Shout out to trans women who aren't computer scientists or musicians or avant-garde artists or whatever.
Shout-out to tgirls who work at Taco Bell. Thank u queen, society would collapse without you
Over twenty years ago my big brother got me a job at a Taco Bell in the St. Louis suburbs-West County. He warned me that it was the "gay Taco Bell", but since I was coming from the "gay Howard Johnson's" I wasn't shocked. It turns out it was the black trans women Taco Bell complete with black trans women in management. And they'd worked out an arrangement with the local teen Narcotics Anonymous group so that twice a week we would shut down the drive thru and the dining room and exclusively serve 60+ teens in various stages of recovery. And many of the women I worked with were in various stages of being out or transitioning and they were from all generations from teens to over 50. One woman I worked with had a regular corporate job presenting as a man 9-5 Mon-Fri and then came to Taco Bell and worked 6pm -2am Friday and Saturday night so she could be herself surrounded by other black transwomen in those stolen weekends. And we had customers come from all over the metro area because they knew they could be themselves in the dining room. I only worked there from 1999-2001 but for young me, this was a vital, formative experience. Some of the girls came from north city all the way out to the "gay Taco Bell" on Manchester in west county because they heard it was safe to work there. Like- I know times have changed but they haven't changed much in 20 years. I'm still convinced that for lgbt youth, finding a job at your city's version of the "gay Taco Bell" is key to survival.
Thank u for sharing this with us

I just learned about a deceased great-uncle of mine who was born in 1933 and who’s mother (my great grandmother) called her, “Little Girl.” This uncle also had a gender neutral name. I am convinced I had a trans great auncle I never got to meet.
