I read the thread and what isn’t clear from one tweet that this 9yr old was reffing an adult women’s league, not a children’s league. And that woman who argued with said child ref was a player not a mom.
“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.
A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't understand his Spanish. Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.
A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"
Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.”
The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”
Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?” Values are transmitted from generation to generation. What values are we teaching our children? Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.”
God, anyone else remember when everyone understood that the correct feminist position about sports was that women should be allowed to compete with men because they're just as capable? When it was a trope in media to have the mysterious star athlete who just blew everyone else out of the water to take off her helmet and reveal that she was a woman the whole time?
Now people are rabidly arguing that supposed "men" (trans women) have inherent insurmountable biological advantages and cis women are too weak and dainty and unskilled to ever compete and must be protected, and then they try to call themselves feminists who are being silenced as if that's not just the mainstream sexist patriarchal opinion
Anyway, desegregate sports. There was never any reason to separate them by gender in the first place
^^^^^ Sports should be separated by skill class and skill class alone. Think weight class for wrestling, now apply an appropriate class to each sport, done.
They tried it
Don’t think that my boy Andy doesn’t know that neither
he said i won’t get dragged on y’alls behalf
Aslo This:

He drinks his respect women juice
No one listened when trans people warned that anti-trans legislation would impact cis people as well, and now this is becoming the norm.
Rare photos from trans history: Olympic runner and Zdeněk Koubek styles Cinda Glenn’s hair, 1936. Koubek was one of the first trans men to gain international fame after he transitioned in 1935.
this is inspiring weirdly complex emotions in me. like, it’s the fucking 1930s. I can hear the mid-atlantic newsreel voice. the fact that it plays coy with why he knows so much about women’s hairstyles, but like, as a funny surprise, not as shock and horror. the fact that it never deadnames him or uses incorrect pronouns. the fact that he looks like Mickey Rooney. idk it’s just making me feel feelings.
the nascar fandom is in shambles rn bc the official account posted #yascar with a link to pride merchandise and a real life reply was ‘smh no longer supporting nascar has been going downhill since they banned the confederate flag’

Now people are rabidly arguing that supposed "men" (trans women) have inherent insurmountable biological advantages in literally every single possible activity and cis women are too weak and dainty and unskilled to ever compete and must be protected, and then they try to call themselves feminists who are being silenced as if that's not just the mainstream sexist patriarchal opinion

meanwhile the athlete who finished third in the same race
In case you’re uninitiated:
These are the current female volleyball uniforms
The Norwegian team on the left got fined a ridiculous amount of money for wearing shorts to the games
When you compare the men and women, it becomes very clear how sexist the uniforms are.
I was very impressed with Simone Biles before today, because she is an amazing, once-in-a-generation athlete. But today? I’m in awe, and deeply grateful. As everyone who struggles with mental illness should be.
Fuck the Olympics. Putting the nationalism of it aside for a second, the absolute nonsense happening this year with it is ridiculous. Disqualifying Sha’carri Richardson for smoking weed after she found out from a reporter that her mother died? Absolutely disgusting. Banning BLM apparel and afro swimming caps? Straight up racist. Deeming two cisgender Black women (Namibia's Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi) ineligible for female classification because their natural testosterone levels were considered too high? A direct consequence of transphobia that the queer community has been saying would happen, an example of intersexism, and an example of misogynoir!
Boycott the Olympics!
I hope y’all understand the racism apparent here and how black women are being expected to conform to the standards of white womanhood in order to be actually classified as women
any time i hear the insufferable transphobic athlete arguments i think of that one time in middle school when my boys lacrosse team did a full-contact scrimmage against the girls team (who typically play with limited contact) and i, a six-foot, 180lb defender, got utterly laid-out by this 5-foot-nothing girl experiencing the newly-unleashed animosity accompanied by violent sport and as i looked up at my assailant from flat on my back i experienced a brief bout of heterosexuality and fell wildly in love and then had to be taken to the ER because i had a concussion
“from flat on my back i experienced a brief bout of heterosexuality” took me out
