Notice that the cop's response is to defend the hypothetical bad cop, not to distance himself and other cops from the bad cop.
If bad cops were rare, there'd be no desire whatsoever to defend them.
When I was younger I used to watch shows like Bones or Rizzoli & Isles just to have something on. I enjoyed them fine. But now I literally can’t have any of those shows on for more than 5 minutes without getting pissed off at some illegal or immoral thing the cops do then I shut it off.

Man on camera: well the first thing I would never do after working as a lawyer is call the police. I think people need to be very careful, when they consider of the issue of whether or not to invite the police into their world, their life, or into their home.
The second thing I'd never do after being a lawyer is to talk to the police.
Number three, I would never allow the police into my home without a warrant. But to invite the police into your home, is to grant them permission to make observations to what's inside. And who knows? You may have left your bong out.
Number four, I would never consent to a search of my vehicle, my home or my property. If police want to search my person or my home: get a warrant.
And the fifth thing I'd do: never submit to an interview without an attorney present. They tell you "you have the right to remain silent" and they also tell you "you have the right to have a lawyer present" before you ever speak to them.
I won't be talking to the police.

Honestly the best part of being a barista was charging cops for their drinks. They’re so used to getting free shit so it was SOOOOO good for them to pull up to the window and for me to be like “$6.47 :)” and them to make this whole elaborate display of slowly pulling their wallet out and handing their card over bc they weren’t expecting to pay. I’d charge you double if I could, oink oink bitch

LMAO one time in the beginning of the pandemic, I gave an ICU nurse from the hospital across the street a free latte and upgraded it to a large for her. The cop behind her looked so smug and sure that I was gonna give him a free drink but only productive members of society get free things from me :)

Fun history facts: One of the 31 people arrested at Stonewall on June 28th 1969 was American folk singer Dave Van Ronk, who was not at the Stonewall Inn at the time and was cis & straight as far as I'm aware. He'd been eating dinner at a nearby restaurant when he noticed a riot happening, said "Well I suppose I should go see what the fuss is about," stepped outside, and immediately started throwing bricks at the cops.
