Thought Tumblr might appreciate this. This weekend, got to co-host a panel with my dear friend Greg @gregtu - "30 Years of Stargate" was his brainchild and I was honoured to join him. And it only seemed appropriate, given that we've both been cosplaying these characters for a while now, that we'd co-host as Daniel and Vala!
Yesterday was such a good day. 💛
I've loved TNG since I was a baby, and yesterday I got to meet Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, and Denise Crosby. Today I'm getting signatures and aaaaaaaaahhhhh because they were all so lovely. Originally, Brent Spiner was supposed to be there instead of Denise Crosby but I'm actually pleased it was her instead, because she was so so so lovely and also TASHAAAAAAAAAAA 😍
This is my second Data costume, as my first one was my first cosplay EVER. I made the whole thing and was delighted by how it turned out. And the contacts appear to NOT have given me any eye infections (yet) so woo hoo!

Goodbye, 2023! You were a dogshit year in many ways, but certainly not in terms of cosplay, so I'm recapping the stuff I made this year.
This is one of my many versions of Poison Ivy, one I made for Montreal Comiccon 2023. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't just like Poison Ivy - I love her, and I can't stop making versions of her. This might be my favourite one so far, as I wanted a classic look with my own slightly burlesque twist. As is the case with all my costumes, I made everything: the crown, the collar, the leafy corset, the bustle, the undies, and even the shoes!
Of crucial importance: this is also the outfit I was wearing when I went to get my Vala photo signed. I looked like this when I made small talk with Michael Shanks. He told me he liked my costumes (this one and Vala). Which he did not have to do. Didn't have to be that polite, buddy. Also the outfit in which he waited until he was looking me dead in the eyes before calling me 'sweetheart.' To my face. Do you knOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE HIM, SPORTING A MUSCLE TEE WITH HIS ARMS OUT, DEADASS LOOK YOU IN THE FACE, SMILE EAR TO EAR, AND CALL YOU 'SWEETHEART'? DO YOU?????? FUCKING FUCK Okay I'm good now
VENTRESS TIME!
Please say hi to my newest version Asajj Ventress! She debuted at FanExpo Canada and I am delighted with how she turned out!
A little backstory:
Even though my blog is my most longstanding social media account (YIKES) I rarely post here about what is my greatest passion: sewing! Especially since many of my projects are cosplays from fandoms I am feral about on here am totally well-adjusted about in front of you all, I thought I’d share one that feels particularly appropriate: my Vala Mal Doran cosplay! I patterned and constructed this costume using the few high-def references out there and a whole lot of screenshots.
(PS in one of these you can even see my point of origin tattoo, in pride of place on my wrist!)
(PPS my Vala coat has a little secret sewn inside when I caught the coat on a nail and had to repair a little rip in the lining with a patch upon which I embroidered a part of the message Michael Shanks signed for me after a friend met him at a con and showed him a pic of me in a genderbent Danielle Jackson cosplay 🥰😭):
Might seem like a weird thing to post for Ann(e) Appreciation Week but there is a reason for it, I assure you!
I'm a rather romantic sort, and the story of Anne and James being so outrageously in love has always gotten me right in a place where I'm very soft. So when I started on an 1830s gown, I wondered - what might she have looked like when they met in the mid-1830s? I'm no Miss Coulman, but I would gladly wait ten years to marry a handsome sailor.
Since we have no authenticated portraits of her, I also wanted to honour her in some way - I hope this is okay!
Hello, folks! Just in case anyone is interested, I’ve posted a blog on the journey behind my 18th century riding habit. I had so much fun that I couldn’t help but share!
The costume is this one, in case you’re wondering:
Took some pics of my completed mid-18th century riding habit today! I made everything except the shoes and the gloves (including a massive number of underthings to achieve the correct silhouette) over the course of nearly 4 months, and am pretty pleased with how it turned out!
Some ramblings under the cut:
❄️A preview of my upcoming Killer Frost cosplay! ❄️
Due to coronavirus and social isolation not only am I working from home and going slightly loony, but all cons have been cancelled! This means I’m hankering for cosplay something fierce!!
In the season without cons I’m desperate to get back into my cosplays. Here are two of my favourite shots of my Poison Ivy cosplay (original design by me!) by Besiska Photography (who is not, sadly, on social media).
This was my biggest project until the one on which I’m currently working, and I’m super proud of her. She was surprisingly comfy to wear, but the cape did get very heavy by the end of the day. Gotta love the Queen of the Green!

I promise this is going to be the last cosplay pic for a while, but I wanted to show everyone my finished Jadzia Dax cosplay! I enjoyed making it almost as much as I enjoyed wearing it!
