I whipped up Asseylum’s season two casual dress as a comfy cosplay for my day trip to Shuto Con, sacrificed Tomochin’s wig on the altar of Aldnoah, and somehow wound up with one of the cheapest cosplays I’ve ever done. It was a blast shooting with Sateriale! He has a load of experience and good ideas.
(I swear I’m done with Aldnoah for a while. My next projects are TCW’s Barriss Offee, Sidonia’s Captain Kobayashi, and Princess Tutu’s Siegfried!Mytho.)

Here are some shots from our shoot with the hyper-talented Katsuya Weller/Headphone Studios at Animazement/JC Raulston Arboretum. This was my first time shooting with her, but she had such great energy and was such a friendly delight to work with, and I’ll be forever grateful that she was willing to trek out to the arb with us.

One weird thing about Animazement was how many people stopped Sapph and I (cosplaying Slaine and Asseylum) to tell us how much they hated Aldnoah.Zero and/or Slaine and/or Asseylum -- nothing negative about us or our costumes, but about the show or the characters. ngl, it was an even stronger reaction than the time we wore Lunamaria and Shinn. (The only Destiny hate I remember was at Gundam shoots themselves, and that’s always jovial ribbing.) Heck, when I wore Asseylum a few weeks after the S1 finale, the reaction was mostly “Can you believe it!” or “How about that finale!” instead of “Oh wow! You look great, but let me just say, I hated Aldnoah.” I’m not upset or offended, partially because this is a silly and inconsequential thing to get upset/offended over and partially because Aldnoah’s second half was categorically terrible. But it was weird/interesting.
... although the other end of the spectrum, someone called SLAINE DID NOTHING WRONG which is also not true but you go girl.
(Thinking about Shinn and Asseylum makes me realize that I need to cosplay from classier shows.)

As to what she is looking for ... I can tell. The same thing as me, I suspect. A place where she can find solace. But that is something that neither of us will ever obtain.
