i read a story that got me curious. imagine someone in your family is getting married. how many people invited would make you go "wow thats a big wedding"?

all my family weddings have been somewhere between like 35-60 people i think because it's usually like. all the bride and grooms' families, and also usually their best friends, who often also get to bring their families. but nonetheless i think like 50 people is "wow a big wedding".

like imo anything more than immediate family and/or closest friends is kind of overkill, so really id say maybe 15 people is where it gets crowded, but people i know just seem to want to have big weddings so it's kind of normal to have 30+

yeah so. 200+ is like. a normal sized wedding here. in fact thats a bit on the low end, you can easily double it and not raise any eyebrows. now 1000 people, thats a big wedding. although the ceremony itself is usually attended by like, 30-100 people, bc thats held first (or before the reception) and most guests arrive late to the party. and youd invite like, your old friends and neighbors and extended family. i mean EXTENDED extended family. so weddings end up more like communal feasts than just a ceremony, haha

so thats how ive been to like 50 weddings in my life so far www my mom gets invited everywhere and i just tag along as the plus one
