While nobody expected Red Dragon to come anywhere close to the masterful The Silence of the Lambs, one at least hoped that the stellar casting (Edward Norton, Anthony Hopkins, Harvey Keitel, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson, Philip Seymour Hoffman) and the return of screenwriter Ted Tally would equal at least a solid film. Alas, they chose Brett Ratner to be the director, meaning a final product that ultimately has a wealth of squandered potential. Ratner's lumbering direction means that the film, with it's attempts at a gothic tone like The Silence of the Lambs, instead becomes a sluggish, unentertaining experience, as
