privilege denial, tbh. straightness is about your gendered attractions, not the specifics of your relationship to sex or other things about you that might be considered “weird.” lots of straight people are “weird,” but lgb+ people (including lgb+ aces!) need these distinctions based on gendered attractions for our own safety. being offended by that is being offended by our need to identify the group that threatens us. but that’s less important to a lot of people than their desire to ignore the system of homophobia and their place in it

it's that point in my academic career where I can now walk into my boss/seminar professor's office at 10am and be like "I'm about to start crying really hard, don't worry about me though, this is just what my body is doing, I just need to cry here but I'm ok" and then we both laugh about the fact that I'm crying, as I continue to cry
