for the writing asks 7-11!
Hooray for questions! I’ve got a few different WIPs, so I’m cherry-picking ---------------------------------------
7. Favorite description in your WIP? (If asked more than once, respond with a new piece each time)
Wind whipped up from the ground, and the dark of earth rained down. The great moon turned red, then bone, then black; then blew itself to bits and reformed in the blink of an eye. The oak-leaves shivered and turned to glass, rivers of molten gold in their veins. The owl, caught off-guard, was suddenly not an owl. Her feathers stretched and cracked, her bones twisted; she hissed, surprised to find herself a bobcat. It hadn’t hurt, not really; but no owl wants to be catted about without warning. - Excerpt from Allomancer
8. Favorite dialogue in your WIP? (If asked more than once, respond with a new piece each time)
I am come from Death, and I bring Death with me. He is my lover and my brother and the dog at my heel. -Thranduil in The Healing of the Elvenking
9.What scene was the hardest to write for you and why? There’s never a particular type of scene that’s harder than any other to write; it’s more a matter of not being able to see it fully in my head yet. IWhen I don’t know where I’m going even vaguely, I have a hard time finishing a scene.
10. What scene was the most fun to write for you and why? I haven’t gotten to my favorite scenes yet in my current WIPs, but generally speaking I love to write “domestic” scenes; aka describing comfy homes, nice meals, beautiful gowns, places, armor and weaponry.
11. Set the scene for us. What are your settings like and do you have any pictures saved that represent them? Do your characters travel and see more than one? What are their names? In Allomancer, the characters mainly stay in one city. It’s a fantasy world, where the main city (located on the seashore of an Amazonian rainforest) is laid out in a spiral, like a seashell. The culture is a mixture of French and West African influences, and I’m leaning towards more Islamic architecture; I love the sophisticated geometric patterns and elegant curves! I haven’t decided on a name for the city yet though.
In The Season (a regency romance where the heroine is a mixed-race heiress,) the main settings are St. Kitts & Nevis Islands, 1800s London, and the English countryside.
I know that’s only two pictures, but mebbe I shall make an aesthetic or two for these WIPs 🤔
