wayne enterprises almost certainly has clothing as one of their retail subsidiaries and i like to imagine it getting really profitable just because bruce spends so much time listening to models bitch at parties. all of their product lines have names like “It Has Real Pockets” and “Not See-Through” and “Full-Length Sleeves” and “Secret Elastic Waist”. the marketing department is like “okay obviously these are all working titles” and bruce is like “no. leave it. that is what it’s called.” and they try to talk him out of it but he owns a helicopter and you can’t argue with a man who owns a helicopter. they sell so fast. the women of gotham are well-dressed and comfortable and always have somewhere to keep their phones.
Gonna tell y’all what I can hear now that I got my hearing aids
Birds! They chirp and it’s so beautiful.
Far away cow moos
My friend has this is his back yard and to say I cried is an understatement.
My best friends singing voice
The filter for my fish tank! Bubble bubble bubble
I sit in the bass section in band. Today I could clearly hear the flutes up at the front! They’re not great, but I can finally hear them!
The sound of walking in sand.
Soft but kinda crunchy? Very nice sound 10/10
Me playing guitar for the first time. Took the hearing aids out. Not a very good sound… yet
Tree leaves in the wind. I got a little spooked at first because it’s 1 am and I’m alone in the park but it’s a real good sound.
Bees
Let me say, it was really fucking terrifying walking past the flowering tree in my backyard and hearing zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz coming from it.
“sunlight” by Hozier
I sat in my car alone while listening to it. I knew it would be special but wow, that was a religious experience.
Their hooves make sounds in the grass but they are completely silent. Beautiful creatures. Beautiful sound
Pine needles and pine cones make crunchy sounds!!! Oh my! Very nice
Colored pencils make a real nice scratch noise when I’m drawing. I didn’t know they did that

So there was just an entire booth full of wind chimes for sale at mountain fair. It started to get a little windy and they all went off at once. It was so pretty.
This is the most beautiful post on this whole site
i love hearing what lines from film/tv people quote with their family all the time because they're always niche and forgettable to everyone but that specific family
In the heat of battle, photographer Horace Bristol captured one of the most unique and erotic photos of WWII.
Bristol photographed a young crewman of a US Navy “Dumbo” PBY rescue mission, manning his gun after having stripped naked and jumped into the water of Rabaul Harbor to rescue a badly burned Marine pilot. The Marine was shot down while bombing the Japanese-held fortress of Rabaul.
“…we got a call to pick up an airman who was down in the Bay. The Japanese were shooting at him from the island, and when they saw us they started shooting at us. The man who was shot down was temporarily blinded, so one of our crew stripped off his clothes and jumped in to bring him aboard. He couldn’t have swum very well wearing his boots and clothes. As soon as we could, we took off. We weren’t waiting around for anybody to put on formal clothes. We were being shot at and wanted to get the hell out of there. The naked man got back into his position at his gun in the blister of the plane.”
“And well, there was his butt, and I had a camera. I mean I AM a historian.”
That is the BEST EVER quote about the nature of historians I’ve ever seen
someone in a fanfic: s-stutters in embarrassment
me, closing the tab: sorry I must go
When people stutter, they usually reword what they’re saying as they speak, and subconsciously insert “filler words” such as “uh, like, you know,” and etc.
*puts on speech therapist hat*
ACTUALLY! It depends on why they are stuttering.
A Nervous Stutter results in what is called Mazing, or rewording the sentence. That is the classic “I, um… well I… look it’s just that… so we…” that @hellishhues is talking about. When someone is mazing their words you’re seeing a form of Speech Apraxia where the brain is having trouble forming verbal speech. This can be brought on by brain damage, memory loss, anxiety, nerves, and several other things.
The root cause of a nervous stutter is a disconnect between the mouth and the brain.
With this you will also sometimes see the classic “S-s-s-sorry…” especially if the person has been training to speak clearly and is now at a point of fatigue or stress where they are not mentally capable of forming the words.
The other kind of stutter is a Physical Stutter, sometimes referred to as slurring, and another facet of Speech Apraxia. This stutter is caused when the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and throat are physically unable to form certain sounds. This is most often seen in the very young and victims of brain trauma.
Sounds are acquired at different ages, so a 2-year-old will probably not be able to clearly pronounce certain words (which is why toddler sound so off when they’re written with developed dialogue). These mis-pronunciations are sometimes referred to as lisping, but only if the sounds are run together. If the person starts and restarts the sound because they got it wrong, it can also sound like the classic sound stutter.
But it all depends on why the character is stuttering!
Do they have Speech Apraxia, Audio Processing Disorder, muscle dysfunction, or another medical reason to stutter? (1)
Are they stuttering because of anxiety, stress, or fatigue? (2)
Does the stutter stem from intoxication or blood loss? (3)
All of those will sound different!
1 - Will have mazing, repeated sound stutters, and be the classic stutter that annoys OP.
2 - This is where you’ll see the repetition stutter, mazing, rephrasing, and filler words.
3 - This is where you are more likely to see starts and stops and slurring of words.

@femmedplume I’ve had the band name forever. Not sure if the title is directed at bores or my brain trolls. Probably both.
I LOVE IT! We are going on tour together, @jael-paris !
Petticoat Despots and Ex Libris double-header, coming soon to an alternate reality venue near you!
I got to 11 days before I got borded.
But I liked his name! RIP, Astrologer of Abipolis.
I had every intention of going to bed now later than 10 last night. It didn’t happen. I tossed, turned, chatted, etc until 2 am. And even then, I tossed and turned for what felt like forever. I feel like Sam in the asylum when he couldn’t sleep. I’m about to grab a toddler and make her nap….. and nap with her. Ugh.
Hmph. And yet SOMEBODY refused to run ONE tiny dungeon with me. Well, guess what? I am now 106 AND I killed a male deer Rare called Starbuck.
So there. 🤓
Well damn…. now I gotta catch up…..

The reason I hate the “Shakespeare didn’t actually write Shakespeare” theories so much is they seem to be inherently rooted in taking his works away from ordinary people. “The son of a glovemaker could never have written these plays! Surely only an Aristocratic Intellectual, like the Earl of Oxford, could be responsible!"
Honestly fuck off. Shakespeare was one of us. His plays were written for the masses. He was an ordinary man who captured the voice of the people and the depths of their emotions. We credit Shakespeare with making up words and phrases, but who’s to say he wasn’t writing down what he heard on the streets? "But something as complex as Hamlet could never have been written by Shakespeare! It must have been the work of a nobleman!” Well guess what, not only did he write it, but he wrote it because that’s what his audience liked. The hordes of ordinary people consumed his deeply philosophical play about a young man musing over life and death and sin and they LOVED it.
Shakespeare was a crowd-pleaser and an entertainer, and reason his work is so beautiful and poetic and philosophical (as well as bloody and sexual!) is because he was responding to popular demand. Most people attending the theatre were illiterate; they consumed literature by listening, and this is one of the reasons why playwrights utilised iambic pentameter and rhyming schemes. Their dialogue is poetry, and it’s beautiful to listen to. The first time Romeo and Juliet meet, their shared dialogue creates a sonnet. Imagine a commoner sitting in the crowd listening to that, and it hits him like an arrow, wow, listen to the way these characters speak, this is love at first sight.
Shakespeare was an ordinary man, and the beauty and complexity of his works were fuelled largely by the appetite of ordinary people. Although plays could be written and performed for the aristocracy, it was the hordes at the theatres that one had to keep happy. This modern obsession with putting him on a pedestal and trying to make him high culture or inaccessible to ordinary people is just gross. This upstart crow will always be one of us, and his work will always be for us.
What have I done?
I always thought I was happy being the dark star to your supernova…

Tagged by the lovely @ohfora67impala. Hi, Pala!
1: Spell your name with song titles. (I’ve done this one recently, so this time I’mma try to use all different songs.)
Fade Into You - Mazzy Star Edelweiss - Sound of Music (Rodgers & Hammerstein) Mambo Italiano - Rosemary Clooney Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson Elephant - Tame Impala Dear Prudence - The Beatles Proud Mary - Tina Turner Love Potion #9 - The Clovers Uninvited - Alanis Morrisette Me and a Gun - Tori Amos (this one still gives me shivers!) Enter Sandman - Metallica
2: Why did you choose your URL? It’s a play on words. “Nomme d’plume” means “pen name” in French, and “femme” is “woman”, but it sounds like “fohmm” when you say it out loud. Hence, femmedplume.
3: What is your middle name? Very, very common, related to the picture below. (Message me if you know it!)
4: If you could be any mythical creature what would you be? DRAGON. <–Yup! Or, alternatively, an elf.
5: Favorite color? Green, aquamarine, and purple.
6: Song you like right now? Fell On Black Days - Soundgarden - I’m on a 90′s nostalgia kick
7: Top 4 fandoms Not really a fandom girl, but I do like Star Trek, Leverage, Firefly, and Gilmore Girls.
8: Tag 9 People. (No pressure if you don’t wanna do it. :) ) Everyone I know who likes to be tagged has done this one, so I’ll just say that if you’re someone who would like to do the thing but you’re too shy unless you’re specifically asked–this is me. Specifically asking YOU. Do the thing. :D
Okay bye.
@ohfora67impala - You know, I never think about that, but I guess people would wonder about it. It’s been my username for years now on various different sites, but I guess it is a bit unusual in Tumblr-land. ;)
Wait…have you heard of Soundgarden before? Or did I just introduce you to these legends of 90′s grunge rock? Because the second one would be really freaking exciting to me. :D
Awesome.
Welcome to grunge, kid. It’s dark and raw and sexy and badass and everyone’s hair is way too damn long--you’re gonna love it.
IF YOU DON’T REBLOG THIS BABY CHERUB, YOUR MELANIN WILL CRACK LIKE FISH IN HOT GREASE.

Too risky.
