So first of all, PLEASE VOTE. The rest of the world doesn't get to vote in your election, but we do get directly impacted by your election, so please do what we can't, and vote.

Secondly, remember that you're not just voting for America. You're voting on behalf of the all the countries that will be impacted by this election.

So long as a fascist demagogue has a coin flip of a chance of winning, the Republican Party is going to keep nominating fascist demagogues and sycophants because that’s what their voters want and they are eager to vote for it. The Democratic Party will be forced to attempt to court swing voters who think the fascist demagogue “is a strong leader” and “has some good ideas” and “isn’t afraid to speak the harsh truth.”

Until fascist demagogues consistently lose elections by large margins, you will never get another set of options. It’s going to be this over and over and over again until the elections results change. Or there are no more elections.

I love them so much because they’re about as sharp as a baseball and their anatomy is ridiculous to the point of them literally being classified as plankton for years because they just sort of get blown around by the ocean and look confused, but because they lay more eggs than ANY OTHER VERTEBRATE IN EXISTENCE, evolution can’t stop them

Why is no big predator coming and gnawing on them?

Their biggest defense is that they’re massive and have super tough skin, but they do get hunted by sharks or sea lions sometimes and they just sort of float there like ‘oh bother’ as it happens

Even funnier, because they eat nothing but jellyfish they’re really low in nutritional value anyway, so they basically survive by being not worth eating because they’re like a big floating rice cracker wrapped in leather.

So basically the only reason natural selection hasn’t taken care if them is because they are the most useless fish

yes, they’ve perfected uselessness to the point of being unstoppable

People say the Mola’s a useless swimmer, a planktonic drifter, but I think that’s just bad press. These things have hit people by jumping out of the water, and even a 30 pound mola can’t jump without some serious speed. Those fins can wiggle with alacrity-the key is ‘does this giant fish want to swim fast’?

The Mola mola is far from helpless and only able to survive predation by being bad tasting or lacking nutrition. The Mola mola is an active mesopellagic predator, diving deep to hunt below the levels at which humans can see (over 200 meters deep).

This post has some crazy highs and lows, I’m glad to see people defending ocean sunfish! Um. I don’t mean to add to the confusion but I’m kind of wondering if the sunfish in the video is not actually a Mola mola but rather the giant sunfish, Mola alexandrini
