This line really gives an insight on how deeply Simon feels. Notice he doesn’t say “I don’t get why I can’t sleep with him” or “why I can’t like him”

For Simon the end game is love. Which is what he felt so o deeply with Wilhelm. It’s what he expects from a relationship. Which is why he seems so baffled at the fact that his feelings for Marcus are so lack luster.

This is by no means shading any particular person but as someone who's been on tumblr for ages and interacts with other fandoms i can't help but notice that some of the YR tumblr fandom is clearly new to tumblr/imported from twitter if you will - and it is evidenced by how much of the interactions underneath YR posts consist of likes instead of reblogs

Liking posts here doesn't do anything to boost the post (and i say this specifically for the people in this fandom who bust their ass creating content - i just rant and lurk around here so it doesn't affect me specifically)

You want to help creators or boost content that you like? REBLOG IT that way your mutuals will see it and they can reblog it and so on, thereby spreading it.

Let's put it in twitter terms: liking a post on tumblr is almost equivalent to bookmarking it except i think bookmarking a post does something to boost it in the algorithm - whereas here it doesn't. People typically like posts when they are too lazy to reblog it or don't have enough signal to reblog something or read a post thoroughly so they "save it for later"

Again, it's not my intention to be rude - we've all been new here at some point, but it's frustrating to see content creators in this fandom get so little reblogs and so many likes. It's something i've seen increasingly on this app specially since a lot of people left twitter thanks to mr jackass idiot billionaire took over. So if you are one of these people, now you know and welcome to tumblr <3

I….did not know any of that. I am also a Tumblr newcomer, and I had no idea liking a post meant so little, whereas reblogging it means so much. I am VERY glad the OP took the time to explain it to me. Please feel free to reblog it for the benefit of other clueless newbies like me.

My only problem with the above is that I am already uncomfortable with the sheer volume of content I reblog here. I feel like I’m endlessly reblogging, and on many occasions have chosen to give a post a “like” instead, to cut down on my constant stream of reblogs. But clearly I need to rethink that strategy. I’m convinced if I reblog too often in a day or a week, people will get overwhelmed and run the hell away. But it’s possible that’s just me being self-conscious, and not a real problem.

Second, never feel bad about reblogging as many posts as you want. It’s YOUR blog, YOUR space. Whenever you reblog it’s basically like saying hey mutuals! I liked this post (you might like it too since if you followed me it must mean we have common interests - reminder that here on tumblr followers are completely and absolutely irrelevant lmao you can’t even see your follow count easily, that’s just how little they matter)

A key thing of this website/app - and probably the beauty of it differently from other platforms is that what others think of your space is completely and utterly irrelevant - and tbh, so far, the common consensus here or at least among the people I’ve encountered in the years I’ve been here is that it’s fucking awesome when a mutual goes on a reblogging spree! Because a. It shows you more content on your dash (that otherwise you’d have to look for on tags you follow and it’s less of a hustle if said content just appears on your dash thanks to your mutuals) and b. Look at this mutual! They seem to have taken a liking to a certain thing! Good for them

Like I even got mutuals who have now switched fandoms and now I see things from fandoms I don’t even know on my dash yet it’s still nice to see them reblogging shit they like

Bruh I almost forgot the main importance of reblogging (sorry it’s late where I am) which is the main reason why I made this post

The idea of tumblr is that when you first open the app/website, the main influx of content you get is from the stuff the people you follow/your mutuals reblog

So what tends to happen a lot is that in my dash I see a lot of the content from the people I follow or my mutuals from other fandoms but I rarely see YR stuff and I always need to go to the YR tags I follow to see content pertaining to that. That in itself would not be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that the website/app was not designed for me to always have to resort to going to the tag. The idea is that you follow people to see the content they reblog so YES! PLEASE REBLOG! It does not bother people, on the contrary it actually enriches the fandom experience on this app
