Dandadan episode 7 has straight up destroyed me emotionally. God damn!

Dandadan broke into my house, walked up to me, got in my face and said "you're going to turn into a sobbing wreck now." And then I said "Yes, sir. As many tears as you want, sir."

I was NOT prepared for that at ALL! I should have listened to the warnings about how emotional the series was going to be! Don't be like me, brace yourselves emotionally!

Well they said this was gonna be the best episode and they weren’t wrong. Beautiful episode, but utterly heartbreaking. Some people truly are too kind for this world and deserve better fates than they’re dealt. Silky may not have had a fancy job or place to live, but she was the best mom you could ask for because she was willing to do anything to ensure her daughter was happy and fed. The world failed her. I’m glad in the end she was able to find some sort of peace and pass on.

She and Aira may not have been biologically related, but certainly spiritually related. They both lost someone very dear to them to circumstances they couldn’t fully process at the time so it’s like their hearts were crying out for one another. I like the theme in this series of found family and how we can choose who our “family is”

So from what I gather in the flashback, silky was doing a little prostitution at one point and things went bad with one of her clients. Sadly this isn’t too unrealistic because in Japan prostitution is illegal, but buying it isn’t. So you’ll often see cases of men threatening women or beating them to pay less or nothing at all. It’s become an even bigger issue as of late with the increased sex tourism in places like Okubo park.

Incredible ep. The scene of Silky dancing like a ballerina under the stars will stay with me.

I've seen many similar tragic backstories and plots like this, but I think the reason this hits hard isn't just the fact that it's grounded. This happens to women and mothers and daughters everywhere. It's not just that.

It's the fact that the main plot of this goddamned shonen is girl and boy searching for boy's fucking nuts.

I'm still crying, it hurts. God, it hurts.
