Sam: "Not necessarily a daily routine.. more like when I have time to get to it. I'd say two or three nights a week. There are a couple of different steps. Gotta take care of this very public face now, right?" He chuckles.

"But you know what I don't use? That dumb '30-in-1' bodywash, facewash, shampoo, conditioner, and whatever else thing. It's dumb! Get the thing meant to take care of whatever part of the body separately."

Sam: "Gotta go with the classic: mashed. Especially the Wilson family recipe. I like Sarah's better than when I make it, too."

Mun: "Do sweet potatoes count? Loaded baked sweet potato with lots of butter and cinnamon sugar!"

Headcanon Sam doesn’t do so hot when it comes to hearing the blasts of fireworks (along with the hc I posted a bit ago about him not handing flying during meteor showers covering the sight of fireworks too)

//meta/headcanon that Sam in catws goes running in DC when it’s still dark out because he grew up in Louisiana and then did 2 tours (8 years) in the Middle East which means the best time to do exercises in hot climates is before the sun gets too high in the sky

Sam’s Music (Recommendations) Headcanon

//hc that Sam has a pretty wide knowledge base of music throughout the last century. he listens to a wide variety of artists and genres and styles, but of course Black artists tend to be higher on his favorites list since their experiences are closer to home.

Growing up in Louisiana means he had more influences from local (ie Creole and Cajun) culture and jazz and blues and swamp and swing--most of which were also live performances of course--from Mardi Gras and other festivals and festivities in/near New Orleans and in his sleepy hometown of Delacroix. 

Marvin Gaye is awesome but is NOT his #1 favorite artist. 

Sam has different music/musical artist/soundtrack recommendations for different people, depending on who they are (both personally and who they are in relation to sam). Marvin Gaye was his recommendation for steve. if bucky wanted recs Sam would give different artists to Bucky and take him to live performances to reintroduce the man to music and Sam’s own love of music. If others were to ask him he’d have a different artist recommendation for them. Chances are, they’d all be Black artists because yup. 

(the only reason sam brought marvin gaye up in tfatws was to use the commonality sam knows bucky knows he had with steve as a distraction for bucky being hyperfocused on zemo taking something so personal from bucky without his consent. zemo absolutely was in the wrong there but they’re in a plane and sam doesn’t need a fight happening there)

//is it just me or does anyone (of you buckys) also share my headcanon for him (aka my bucky muse) where he only allows others to call him ‘Bucky’ if he knows them and if they had known or had been close with Steve? It’s a members only exclusive club that basically only Sam, Sharon, T’Challa, and Shuri and maybe the original surviving Avengers and team cap are now members of? oop (Sarah is a special case because of Sam, Ayo and Okoye doesn’t call him that)

Some more About Sam headcanons

//Sam speaks fluent English, Louisiana French (which has many different dialects depending on region and history. he knows a few of them), Spanish, Arabic, knows enough standard French to get by, and a sprinkling of other languages

He speaks (English) without an accent when speaking formally (especially with white people outside of LA) and with people he’s not that familiar with. once he gets to know someone, is comfortable around them, and/or especially when hanging out back home in Lousiana, he drops the formality and speaks with more of an New Orleans accent and dialect (which has French words peppered in there) (//what I’m saying here is that I have no idea how to write in New Orleans wording so please imagine him speaking this way in our rps if our muses are close)

Musical instrument: played trumpet for 2 years in high school

Has a decent singing voice and can carry a tune but definitely is not a trained singer by any means. he used to sing in his dad’s church choir as a kid. now he mostly just sings in the shower lol or karaoke with family and friends

Likes to and enjoys cooking. But mostly Sarah’s been the one cooking large meals (especially for neighborhood kids too) when their parents and TT passed away. Sam has a few passed down favorites from them that he knows by heart how to make. he likes baking sweet things (when the weather isn’t already 1000 degrees) he picked up cake decorating as a hobby to help him recover from ptsd. will share his baked goods with the community from time to time

Is a handy man and good with his hands as seen in the show fixing up their family boat (and apparently he built a wine rack in his DC apartment?? lmao)

Sam’s past as part of the Falcon program headcanon

based on that exchange, my headcanon is that however many people there were in the experimental Falcon program (which could not have been more than a handful because flying is exhausting in all the ways and not many people would have qualified for it to begin with)

we know sam felt it HARD when his wingman riley got shot down by an rpg. arguably sam was the closest with riley over the others. this doesn’t mean he didn’t care about the health and safety of the others. 

hc that the last pair of Falcon wings were locked up behind said twelve inch wall was because all the others have also died while flying in them or have died while being rescued. some before riley and some after.

sam became the only survivor

after losing riley he was already doing a mental nosedive, after losing ALL of them? sam was not in a good place at all. 

sam’s and the last pair of Falcon wings were locked up behind a twelve inch wall “to protect” sam. 

he went dark for about a year afterwards. didn’t have a job. didn’t do anything productive. didn’t bother checking in with VA mental health or any other kind of mental health places. lost contact with friends (well when you’re out there flying most of your friends are also those out there flying). barely even called sarah (this was before aj and cass were born). 

he goes for runs at 3am to clear his mind and to get back into shape because sleep rarely comes if not riddled with night terrors and replays of watching riley die over and over again when he does drift off. kept up with the running routine and the rest is the start of the catws movie

Sam’s Name Headcanon

// Sam likes to just go by “Sam” to most people. 

“Mr. Wilson” if he has to but that’s too formal for him and/or is only used for formal occasions. (His father was a priest so even he didn’t go by “Mr Wilson” often) 

Having been on and off duty military for years now, he will answer to “Wilson” but mostly only to other military folks. On top of that, being Captain America, he is also Air Force Captain (Officer/O-3) rank. (Not Army) He will answer to “Captain Wilson” but again, mostly only to other military/government position folks, like “Captain Rogers” did.

Now to get a bit more personal:

He does not like to be called “Sammy” unless it’s by Sarah or other family members or a loved one. Seriously, unless you are, don’t do this. But if you are his significant other, he thinks of it as a pet name and loves it.

“Samuel” (in the sense of it taking the place of just “Sam”) can go either way, depending on who is saying it and under what circumstance. (Like the way Bucky said it in tfatws/caatws? that’s hot. it’s probably not meant to be hot, but sam’s for it, all the way. lol //i never said sam’s not a dork)

“Samuel Thomas Wilson!” aka his full name. Like other kids, growing up, this was only used as more admonishment/punishment/to immediately get his attention when he’s doing something he shouldn’t be doing. He was a troublemaker as a kid so his parents weren’t shy to shout it at him until they died and couldn’t anymore. Sarah sometimes still shouts this at him but he’s learning to stop pissing her off as much...most of the time. 

“Thomas” ... no. Just go with “Sam”.

Sam knows the importance of names so he will always respect others’ names (and pronouns).

Now that Sam is Captain America.. Does this mean he’ll need to change his birthday to July 4th or can he keep his? hahaha
