Dear Father Shane, Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year! My question is: I'm already 28 years old. I want to travel the world, have fun, be pretty, etc. However, whenever I read the bible, go to Mass, and pray the Rosary more than usual, I feel that I shouldn't aspire to be having fun, but discern a religious vocation of becoming a nun instead. I'm not sure if I'm just being scrupulous or if God is leading me to be a nun. Should I go travel or stay home? Help! God bless!
lol, you should totally ask a nun if she travels the world more than you do (a lot of them do), has more fun than you do (almost all of them do, guaranteed) and feels prettier than you do (she'll surprise you with her answer)!
Just sayin'. ;-) If you doubt any of that, catholicninja can help you out.
May God bless you abundantly!

All you Catholic tumblrs out there, reblog!!
It Is Complete
The askbox is open!
Maybe we can leave it open for 48 hours or so, and then close it to answer the batch. All these questions are always really worthwhile.
But here's the new twist... I've just started a new Tumblr called Vocation Questions. My goal is to leave the askbox there always open, but exclusively for discernment questions. I had been getting lots of personal vocation questions, and those are even more special than the usual questions, so I figured they merited special treatment.
Think it'll work?

Seeking God's plan for you? We will match your prayer time.
They'll do adoration for your vocation if you pray too. How's that for a good deal?

Congratulations!

My household twin became a nun yesterday! This just made my entire week.
Now I’ll have to work on not calling her Jordan (that’ll be a train wreck)

A video that sums up why I'm a priest... As long as folks out there live like this, I've got a mission.
I feel I have a deep calling in my vocation... But I am not sure which vocation God has designed for me. How can one discern a religious calling?
Here's a short little thing I wrote a little while back, with some links. Hope it helps! If you have more specific questions, feel free to get in touch!
God bless you and count on my prayers in this exciting time of discovery...
