today we got Archer Tristan, Caster Nitocris and Caster Scathach-Skadi.

I was not rolling for any of them and am debating getting rid of Nitocris, but that feels ungrateful.

Only on episode 4 of Lord El Melloi II Case Files, but can confirm, this was written for a different audience in mind.

It was written for Fate fans, don’t get me wrong, just the more serious/lore orientated ones in mind, at least the way it’s being presented in the anime. I could also debate it was written with more female fans/fans of mlm, but I won’t, because aside from Waver being daddy as fuck and clearly suffering PTSD from the Holy Grail War and his love/devotion to Iskandar (which was already highlighted in Fate Zero), there’s not much here I would call “fan service”. 

The animation is nice, but not as nice as it could’ve been, especially during some badass fight scenes with Gray, Svin and Flat, but maybe that’ll change when the BluRay comes out and they have the chance to gloss it up a bit more.

It’s actually a very cool look at different magecraft and magi culture/society as a whole and it’s actually really neat because I can actually follow along with some of this stuff and I don’t know if it’s because Waver’s just THAT GOOD a teacher or because I studied bits and pieces of it in hyperfixation moments in my teenage years.

I completely agree with Gigguk, you don’t even have to be a Fate fan to enjoy this because it’s just a really cool look at that world building/lore with a Saber-face character in it that I would still die to protect because I love her so much. 

All the magi students are adorable as hell and I love them so much, and I also love Reines and Gray so much and I would die to protect their smiles.

Debating if I should have separate tags for Waver Velvet and Lord El Melloi II or not.

I mean, I genuinely expected to be ignored, so while I’m not satisfied with that answer (nor unfortunately expect nothing to change, poor Abigail when she gets officially released), at least they acknowledged my complaints?

If we could get more people speaking up about this, that would be great, apparently one of the VA’s for a character even spoke up about the issues he has with the game as well after Agartha (which was apparently also super unpopular in Japan).

I don’t mind a bit of fan-service, like seeing servants in swimsuits or even designs like Nero’s and Francis Drake’s, it’s a whole other issue when you get really shit servant designs like Ushi, Boudica, Mary and Anne, or, god, the ascension artwork of the minors like Jack and Abigail.

I gotta learn or find someone who knows Japanese now so I can send a complaint to the head office in Japan now because no I’m not letting this go.
