this blog has become a recommendation blog but hey, I have to recommend The Victor's Project on ffnet by Oisin55. No, actually, I'm going to drop the weirdest (and funniest) part of it, in my own words. It's also one of my adopted funny/interesting to think about headcanons.
So Blight in TVP won the 52nd Hunger Games, but it isn't important how and I don't want to spoil too much.
The important part is his arena was a destroyed and abandoned Chicago so he stayed for a very long time at a certain place. He assumed it was some sort of church, and he thought that the goddess it represented protected him. That's actually one of the two funny parts, because actually Beetee didn't have the heart to tell him it was a Starbucks. But he was extremely superstitious and devoted after that.
He was also what was called in 7 a "tree-elf". Aka gay. Not the best thing to be in Panem, but in general they did get lovers and have a normal life. Blight did have a lover, and he loved him for his kindness and his almost naive optimism. We don't know exactly how he looked but we are left to assume he was blonde, fair-skinned and had blue eyes. He died due to an illness that broke loose in 7, because Snow needed to test how successful it'd be to release in case of a rebellion. His name was Jason Mellark.
So you can imagine how Blight reacted when he - a very superstitious person - saw a similar person to his dead lover reaped for the 74th Hunger Games. This HC says that Blight didn't appear during training for the 75th Games because he was convinced that Peeta was a reincarnated Jason. Of course, he didn't care that if Jason was reborn he would have been two during the 74th Hunger Games.
And yeah, Jason and Peeta were related, but distantly. They were third cousins, I believe? And I think it's implied that Blight died thinking he was trying to save his lover? I guess? Without even meeting him? Idk, but I kinda like it as an idea.
