Story Prompt

Inspiration comes from anywhere I suppose; while sweeping my living room I had my back to the TV as an Episode of My Little Pony was playing for my daughter when I got inspired by the last few lines. (Episode is called 'May The Best Pet Win')

"So many choices, and such riches a plenty"

"Not a bad problem to have, if you ask me!"

"What to do, what to do...of course! That's it! There's really just one way, to find out which animals best, hold a contest, of speed, agility and guts that will put each pet to the test!"

"Don't forget style that should be considered,"

"Then we'll know for sure whos best of the litter"

"The one who is awesome, is cool"

"Just like me, can't settle for less cause I'm the best, so a contest we shall see, whos the number one greatest perfectest pet in the world for me,"

"Let the games begin,"

"And may the best pet win!"

I foresaw this boy and girl with long white hair and flawless skin at a kennel, passing past cages. The boy is in search of a pet to call his own since it is seen as scandalous for a vampire his age not to have a companion. But in the cages aren't dogs, bats, owls or typical pets. it's humans. He decides to hold a gladiator-like tournament to test the human litter to find the perfect companion for himself. The girl runs the kennel and breeds the humans, she has everything from mutts to purebred from all around the old world, as they agree on the contest the boy sneers down into a cage with a lone female with long black hair, his voice is like warm honey laced with deadly poison, the lights above shadowing his face to show his true inner demon as he jeers "may the best pet win...."
