Anna crouched over Ellen, fingers searching for her pulse. She breathed a silent sigh of relief when she felt it under her fingertips, strong and steady.

“Your friend is alive” the woman said. Anna glared at her and rose to her feet.

“Who are you?”

“Anael.”

“Yeah, I figured as much,” Jo said, remembering Pamela’s burnt out eyes with a shudder. “I mean, what are you?”
