In search of Fandom Ambassadors!

There's a lot we don't know yet about FTH2025 in part because there's a lot we don't know about what 2025 will look like in the US. But one thing we do know is that this next auction -- our ninth! -- will definitely be happening! No matter who the next US president is, there are progressive causes that need our help and support. And we also know that we're hoping to pick up some new fandom ambassadors for a handful of specific fandoms.

(What is Fandom Trumps Hate?)

Hey, what's a fandom ambassador? A fandom ambassador is someone who helps raise the profile of FTH within a specific fandom, especially fandoms that have small showings in the auction. (FTH is way more fun when there are at least half a dozen fanworks being offered in your fandom!) We the auction organizers can make all the general posts we want asking people to get involved, but those kinds of appeals hit different when they're coming from a friend or from a recognizable name.

So if you're someone who:

a) has roots in a specific fandom with small FTH turnout OR a new fandom that you want to see in the auction

b) has participated in the auction in the past, and

c) is interested in helping drum up interest among your friends/communities in that fandom

...we'd love to hear from you! Please fill out this quick form and let us know that you're interested. Fandom ambassadors will get support from FTH in making posts aimed at your fandom in the weeks leading up to the auction.

so some of you may remember a couple months ago I made all of bells hells as little knitted dolls and when I was done I was like 'oh my god that was so much fun and I love them but also that was a lot of work and I am never doing that again'

I think Guzzlord was made specifically to spite me. It's got all the things.

Last picture I posted I had forgotten to attach the tusks so technically that was a WIP post and this is the real finished crochet post. Gonna round up the time it all took and say 16 hours. An absurd amount of time was spent on the many, many, ..many details. You can't even see them all very well in the pictures, but I promise you they are there. Spikes everywhere. In the mouth. On the tongue. On the mouth. On the body which is basically a mouth. On the arms (both sets if you count the "fingers" on the head arms as spikes). The ball at the end of the tail is covered in spikes. There's tiny wings on the sides. One set is gilded. There's another set if you count the way the eyebrows look. There's a tiny little head on top of the giant mouth head that has 4 tiny little spikes.

When I tell people I knit they almost always go „oh can you knit something for me??“ and I don’t know how to kindly say that I don’t like them enough to spend so many hours knitting for them.

Holly Poly is, as the name implies, an exchange for polyamorous relationships. OT3s, OT4s, OT6s, orgies, open relationships, sedoretus, whatever strikes your fancy, as long as it involves three or more entities.

Participants are able to offer and request fanart, fanfiction, fanvids, podfic, fanmixes, gifsets, or aesthetics/moodboards.

All times are 11:00am UTC, save for golive which will depend on when final pinch hits are posted.

08 12 October - 21 October: Pre-nominations. (Period to transfer nominations from last year’s tagset into this tagset) — NEW 22 October - 02 November: Nominations 02 November - 05 November: Nominations clean up 05 November - 19 November: Signups 24 November: Assignments out by this date 12 January: Default deadline 19 January: Fanworks are due 26 January: The archive goes live (as soon as everyone has a gift) 02 February: Creators revealed

We understand that life gets in the way sometimes. If you realize you will not be able to finish your assignment, please default as soon as possible. This year, 48 hours is the maximum extension that will be granted. You're free to still finish your assignment if you need more than 48 hours; however, if you ask for a longer extension or you don't post your fanwork by the extension deadline, then the request will be sent out as a pinch hit. There will be no exceptions to this rule. The FAQs for this year's exchange have been posted. Please let us know if anything is unclear. Princess Weekes just released an excellent video essay about race in the series and the changes, I think it's a good watch for everyone in the fandom. Several points about the complexity of Louis and Claudia and their relationships, really good stuff! Race is always a fervent subject in the fandom so it's good to listen about it!
