Could I request a DioSthene doodle of Dio replacing Sthene’s bandages on his hands? 🥺
yeah 🥺
OMG I LOVE THIS!!!!!
It's so soft!! And Dio's being so gentle🥹
Just imagine
You prepare all your life to war ,Avenge your father,Became king,Go to war again,Comitted a lot of crimes ,Get injured Petty bad,Fight gods and goddesses ,Your wife cheated on you, gets kicked out of your own kingdom, almost get sacrified ,lost any conection you had with your allies or loved ones
But look at the bright side!!, you have a flock of albatrosses you can pet they are your dead companions
Ehhhh....... it could be worst
This headcanon might get me killed and but Ima say it:
I love the idea of Diomedes being the shortest. He's never described height wise (from what I remember), he's one of the younger kings, and because I have such a soft spot for the character who kick the most ass being smol.
"aww, he's so young and short! What's he gonna do-OH ZEUS ALMIGHTY!"
He is a feral chihuahua to me :3
Diomedes gains his immortality and at first it might seem as great.
But one day everyone who he knows dies and he sees statues and paintings of him and them hating how they look as they look similar but they don't look like them. But one day he realizes he doesn't remember how they look.
So he goes and watches the statues knowing, FEELING something is wrong they look different but that's the closest he can get to remembering them.
So he stays in front of them, watching them hoping, praying to remember their faces at least one more time but it's too late, his memories tainted by the paintings and statues and even the glimpses he might remember are altered with faces he saw from the statues.
@prompted-wordsmith This reminds me of PotL 👀
Ok now what abt this little addition to ease the pain:
So we all know how Heracles (at least his image) could hang out in the Underworld? That should’ve worked for Diomedes. So every time Diomedes forgets the the faces of his friends he just goes down to Hades and hangs out with those in the field of asphodels and those in Elysium fields and Achilles in White Rock (which is later associated with Elysium fields too)
Yesss omg I just gotta post this snippet of these two hooligans I love them sm
"Do not patronise me," the spear came down like thunder, forcing the other figure to dodge, "Diomedes." "You may have," the spear flicked up, but it was bait that drew Diomedes's own haft down to block, and not a true strike, "ascended, but I am still—" Odysseus pulled his spear back and used the palm of his hand to thrust it with all his might. It clanged terribly against the chest of Diomedes's divine panoply, sending the young God stumbling back instinctively. "I am still better with a spear."
Dang it… I don’t have time for another WIP, but exploring Dio as a god is so so tempting.
My favorite thing in the world rn is that almost every one shot of Odydio I've read are written from Dio's pov because you know if you write from Ody's pov you're in for a ride
Ok but- so real.
His inner stream of consciousness just. keeps. GOING! HE DOESN'T SHUT UP!
However, his inner monologue is so dramatic. It's hilarious.
Like- Dude. Yes, they're hot, but you're not gonna die from your attraction to them just because they're kicking someone's ass! Suck it up! Quit being a baby!
i dnt have energy to color anythign but i needed to draw them smooching idk
i need to stop sprinkling diomedes trauma into this odydio fic. that is NOT the point of the story we dont need that right now.
ive decided that actually, yes we do
My reactions to this post in order
odysseus, as we all know, will take any and every opportunity to lie. and, again as we all know, odysseus and diomedes are chosen to complete missions together several times throughout the course of the war. what i'm saying here, is, they have gotten so good at coming up with shit on the spot. professional 'yes and'ers. odysseus will spout some bullshit about how he's the son of a lowly goat farmer here to see his sister in the city and diomedes plays along perfectly. they read each others minds, your honor.
A squishy Diomedes sketch because I felt introverted at a birthday party for an hour or so (Odysseus is squishing the war-boy’s cheeks btw)
And I didn’t have an eraser so it’s a bit messy
Do you have any headcanons about the relationship between Diomedes and Athena? I feel like their dynamic is incredibly compelling and under-explored
Oooooo... That I do!
From what I've gathered from the Iliad, Diomedes' relationship with Athena is much more formal than Odysseus' relationship with Athena. So here's what I've got:
I imagine Athena sees Dio as an obligation. She feels that she must watch over Dio as an obligation to his father (despite Tydeus going a little coo coo at the end there). When Tydeus dies, Diomedes is a little boy of four with only his mother, sister, and grandfather to take care of him. Because of the Seven Against Thebes' failure, very few could protect her former bestie's son. So she felt the need to at least watch him.
Athena was very distant from him, though. Conversations were rare and usually only happened if she was helping him in battle. To be blatantly obvious, Athena was hesitant to interact with Dio. Because of what happened and how Tydeus died, she sees the family as tainted. She can't shake what happened (I go into more detail here). So she just watches.
Because she's so distant, Diomedes sees her as above him. She's a god. He's a mortal. That's all they ever will be. Yes, he knows he has a stronger relationship with her than most (one of his eyes turned grey, so her influence is evident), but she's not a friend. She's a protector and ally, sure, but far from someone he would consider a friend.
That starts to change over time (partly thanks to OdyPen and partly because of Athena's growth), but I won't totally give it away.
Do you think Diomedes ever feels jealous when he becomes aware of Odysseus’ more direct relationship with her (during the Trojan War)?🤔
More so he’s like “So disrespectful 🙄” and rolls his eyes lol

Diomedes : Did you check my report on the last spy mission?
Odysseus : Yup I looked over it, nice work.
Dio : Thank, dad... Why is everyone staring at me ?
Sthenelus : You just called Odysseus dad; you said thanks, dad.
Dio : What ? No I didn't. I said thank, man.
Ody : Do you see me as a father figure, Diomedes ?
Dio : No. At best I see you as a bother figure because you are always bothering me.
Agammenon : hey ! Show your father some respect !
Dio : i didn't call him dad !
Ody : No, no. Diomedes, I take it as a compliment.
Achilles : It's not a big deal. I also call Pat dad sometimes and he's my boyfriend.
Dio : Guys, jump on that. Achilles has psycho-sexual issues !
Ajax: Old news. But you calling Odysseus daddy.
Dio: Hey, daddy is not on the table here-
(og scene)
What if… Diomedes had never thought about being a king… And Sthenelus knew he’d be a king since there was no one to succeed Iphis… So he asks Diomedes to be his therapon(I think I heard it was a term for a companion in arms but I don't know how to describe a private soldier that protects the royal?? person by their side?? Like the closest person to protect them)… But after he became a king and went to Troy he became a more powerful person than him… And he asked Sthenelus to be HIS therapon….
